Conan the Barbarian was a cult-character for the longest time until rising to fame in the 1980s with the help of Arnold Schwarzenegger (later movie adaptations were not as successful). Originally this fictional character was created in 1932 by Robert E. Howard, something of a cult legend himself.
Today the subject is quite popular, with video games and comics abound. It’s no big surprise then, that Net Entertainment decided to come up with their own branded slot as well.
It took quite a while for the company to polish the product, and that really shows in the graphics department.
But what else is there for the Cimmerian to explore?
Theme
Gritty realism has been translated quite well to the reels, with the grim music leaving you with the image that Crom really doesn’t care what happens to you.
The symbols themselves consist of some usual items, like swords, with the high-paying ones being famous characters from the movies and comics.
The occasional animations bring a bit more action to the reels, though one would have expected a bit more swordplay and adventure in that regard.
Betting Options and Functions
The variance is set quite high, and with the reels extending to 6 and symbol positions to 4 per reel, you are sure to expect a bit higher bet level than normal. Still, you can get going with as little as 0.20 coins per spin.
There’s a total of 24 paylines, and these pay from both directions. The payouts are decent but without the special features you can’t really land any massive wins. Three to six symbols are needed for a winning combination.
Features
There’s a wide variety of different features at play here:
- Tower wilds and battle wilds
The tower wilds appear on the first 2 reels and can expand to cover either reel fully or partially. The battle wilds, in turn, show up on the last two reels and can expand into any direction, adding two extra wilds on the reels.
- Mystery symbols
These show up on reels 3 and 4, either as single or stacked symbols. They can transform into any other symbol (all matching) sans the wilds or scatter.
- Mystery multiplier
Land the right symbols and Conan himself shows up to increase your winning multiplier up to seven times the original!
- Thoth-Amon
Activated together with wild and mystery symbols, and will result in extra symbols added all over the reels.
- Bonus spins
There are three distinctive free spins features, activated via scatters. Walls of Tarrantia, Temple of the Serpent and City of Thieves all come with their own features.

Feature rich licenced content. Love conan so this was a must to try. Closer to comic conan than arnolds version though? Netent can if it tries, make a desent game. Graphics fine, gameplay fine. And the features keep on coming. So will play again.

I have played this slot several times now and I don't like it. The graphics are ok and I like the theme behind the slot however, I find it incredibly difficult to get any decent win on it. I have had several bonus features and none of them have paid over 100x bet. Base game also doesn't give any wins bigger than 20x bet....

As the previous reviewer, can't say anything nice about it. All the extra features usually show up with no winning connected with them. Got free spins several times and got nothing interesting. Tried it on several occasions, will not play it anymore.
