It’s kind of normal that the darkest depths have always attracted explorers and adventurers, while casino software developers have always opted for shallower parts.
Well…
…this time it’s different!
BGaming chose to make a slot inspired by the living world from the bottom of the ocean and they brought us Deep Sea – a game that is interesting in many ways.
Playable across mobile devices too, it features 15 paylines that are fixed on a 5x3 grid.
Below, we will introduce you to all the highlights of this game, possible drawbacks and our final thoughts about it...
…so, let’s dive in!
Theme and Symbols
If you expect mermaids, smiling dolphins or cute sharks – do not waste your time! You won’t find those here!
At these depths, organisms have been adapting for millennia and have developed unique survival mechanisms such as their ability to glow in the dark.
The title is dominated by scientific and explorative lines that definitely make it stand out from all other similar-themed slots.
On the left of the grid, you will see your only humanoid companion down here – the diver with the camera. Help him take some nice photos and you may get some nice compensation.
But wait, there’s more!
The sophistication of graphic solutions is further enhanced by extremely detailed symbols.
The lowest paying symbols are playing card suits which can pay up to 50x the bet for 5 of a kind landed.
If we proceed to the top of the paytable we will encounter jellyfish or other glowing microorganisms, where the green one with the fringes is the most lucrative – it will pay 300x the bet for 5 of a kind.
The camera film is the wild, while the underwater camera is the scatter.
Visually, Deep Sea has passed the test, now let’s check the options and precious content?
Betting Options and UI
The minimum bet level is set on 0.2 which will definitely thrill low stake players.
On the price of the most expensive strike here is set on 50 coins.
The theoretical return to player (RTP) of 94% is far below average in the light of other modern releases and it is certainly the first drawback of this game…
…let’s hope it will be that last one, too.
The thing we must commend is the simplicity of the UI. Everything you need is set at the bottom line – game rules, settings, paytable, and features explained.
On the side of the spin button, you will find autoplay options where you can set an indefinite number of autospins.
Features
Wilds
As we all are used to, the wild will replace any of the regular symbols in order to form a winning combination.
Important to realize:
The wilds are paying here, so land 5 of these and you will be getting 350x the bet.
Free Spins
Opposite wild symbols, the scatter symbols don’t pay. They are here only to trigger the Free Spins round.
The number of free spins depends on the number of scatters landed. So, land 3, 4 or 5 scatters and you will be awarded 10, 12 or 15 free spins respectively.
During this feature, the Anglerfish symbols can appear anywhere on the grid. If you manage to land 3 of these, the red hearth-shaped symbol will become the special wild and 10 of these will be randomly thrown on the grid.
In a Nutshell
The good thing is that casino software providers have decided to explore deeper parts of the oceans. At the end of the day, the brand new theme in the industry is always welcome.
In terms of appearance, Deep Sea is a true masterpiece. Considering its classic features and great bonus round, we highly recommend this title to you…
…despite its low RTP.
We have played and reviewed titles with even lower RTP and we had a blast while playing them, so why would this one be an exception?
Do not forget to check out other reviews of BGaming releases such as Mechanical Orange or Spin and Spell.

Even hit the random wilds bonus during the free spins with 10 random wilds falling on reels which paid nothing. The RTP is way too low and overall dislike this slot from my experience.

This game is big time hit and miss. Why even add wilds to the reels in the free spins feature if they aren't going to make a lick of difference in the overall size of any wins??

Deep sea is not only way too low RTP but the music is annoying, the teases are way too many as the bonuses are rare and pay mostly nothing. The base game pays nothing, the scatters in bonus (every 3 collected) add 10 random wilds on reels that are useless anyway as it's like adding a wild on a 300 symbols reels... Not really...

Not really changing much. You have to retrigger multiple times and pray if you want to hit 100x+ which is ridiculous considering how it rips. Don't touch this.

I never particularly liked Bgaming slots but I do enjoy this one quite a bit. I tried it once and yeah, the payouts aren't mega high but they are decent especially for a low roller. I don't think this game has very high winning potential but I enjoyed playing it with minimum bets.

This one has more potential and more features but failed to deliver for me, also I would prefer more sophisticated graphics and better sounds also and smoother overall gameplay. I rated this as "dislike", not for me.
