It seems that Spinmatic is looking to kickstart a series of slots with this one, why else bothering to name a character? There’s more than a few famous archaeologist-adventurers (starting from Indiana Jones), so there certainly is a market for this type of game. Not to mention that a few other producers have toyed with similar ideas.

But to be successful, and to gain sequels the game must be great. So how does this one fare? The graphics look pretty sweet, the theme is one of the most popular ones out there, and there are true treasures on the reels. Looks good so far.

Theme

The hat, the trousers and the leather jacket are only missing the iconic whip, and this would be a branded slot. Or perhaps that is the look all adventurers war as they raid Egyptian tombs? 

The screen is quite dark and flanked by two ominous guardians. Here you are, stealing their treasures. At least there are two cauldrons of fire lightning the otherwise gloomy setting. The desert night is a bit less threatening when Arabic music is factored in. The graphics and animations are quite fitting, even though some of the symbols are from later eras (playing card ranks).

Betting Options and Functions

The return to player is a bit below the average, but not significantly so. There’s still plenty of room for big wins, especially for the likes that would allow you to retire from your career of adventuring. The game itself is quite on the usual side, with a standard five-reel with three symbols each.

Spinmatic has done quite a good job with the interface, even if it is shared throughout most of their games. All the information is easily accessed and settings can be changed with a few clicks or flicks. Most importantly, there are options to check out your playing history, to easily see how you are doing.

The most interesting part is the main win. Landing five of the adventurer symbols will net you 5000 times your line bet! Given that there are only ten paylines you don’t need a high stake to walk out a winner from this slot!

Features

The gamble feature is simple and straight of the book of gambling: you are presented with a simple choice of red or black. There’s a 50 - 50 chance of either one, with the right answer doubling your pot and the wrong answer removing it. Choose carefully!

Three or more scatters on the reels will reward the player with ten bonus games. Before the spins start one symbol is selected at random to work as a special expanding symbol. When the symbol is expanded on the reels, it will cover three other positions. It will also pay out like a scatter! Suffice to say, if the adventurer becomes the special symbol the bonus games suddenly become quite lucrative.

Our Take

For those who seek treasures, this slot offers them. If there is enough here to warrant sequels in the form of further adventures of Ed Jones remains to be seen. All in all, quite a good slot with a simple bonus system, high volatility and notable wins.
