Gladiators, weapons and fearsome lions were all once combined in Roman arenas as entertainment for the masses, it was the sport of their time. Over the years this fascination has continued with various stories and movies based on Gladiators.

The unmasked gladiator symbol is a joker and only appears on the second and fourth reel. If the joker appears, it will spread to fill the whole reel which means it can replace any icon shown on that reel. It is able to replace the tiger, lion, trident gladiator, lady or Caesar icon to create winning combinations.

You will unlock the SPQR bonus game when five SPQR icons appear on an active line. This presents a number of shields which you choose from to reveal weapons needed to do battle against the Gladiator. Once three identical icons have been found the round ends and you are credited with your winnings. Alternatively, any winnings gained will be doubled if the Bay Leave icon is discovered before three identical icons are.

Three, four or five bay leaves trigger the Colosseum bonus round where you must choose a door from the famous arena. This will reveal a reward which varies depending on the number of triggering icons. The most you can win during the round is 40x your stake, whilst the least is 2x.

There are plenty of slots out there themed around the Roman Empire and this one is a pretty decent offering.
