The glory of Ancient Greece is relived in this Cayetano, 5 reel, 20 payline slot machine game. It is bright and colourful, offers plenty of opportunities to win at relatively low costs, and has a decent enough jackpot.
The jackpot is fixed at 10 times the player’s stake. It isn’t the most luxurious or biggest earning jackpot you’ll ever come across, but then again, it isn’t exactly going to burn a hole in your bank playing the maximum wager either.
Golden Thunder Theme
As you’ve seen, Golden Thunder is themed after Ancient Greece, or perhaps more specifically, Zeus. This God of Thunder is present all over the slot machine game, and his influence is heavily expressed.
The icons used in this slot are therefore of course somewhat predictable and stereotypical. Zeus is the main symbol and worth the top prize. Other icons used in this slot include a ruby centred crown of golden leaves, Zeus’ thunderbolt, a golden chalice and a silver coin. The high playing cards also make their appearance in the Golden Thunder slot machine game.
Betting Options and More Features
Players can wager anything from a lowly 0.20 per spin, up to the top wager, which is fixed at 200.00 per spin. Compared to other slots, this is a quite cheap slot machine game to play.
Golden Thunder Features
There is a free spins round in Golden Thunder, that can be triggered when a player accumulates 3 or more free spin icons, which are basically boxes that say “free spins”. Up to 45 free spins can be triggered, and can offer multipliers of up to 15 times the player’s stake.
The full body Zeus icon is an expanding wild symbol. This wild covers an entire reel and substitutes for every single symbol in the game, with the exception of the free spins icon.
The standard wild icon is Zeus, though only a headshot. Wilds are gifted to players whenever a storm approaches in the game, and like the expanding wild, can substitute themselves for any other symbol, save for the free spins icon.
Our Take on Golden Thunder
Golden Thunder is cheap to play, it has two sets of wilds, and a free spins bonus rounds. On those grounds alone, it could very well be considered a hit. From a graphics perspective, the game isn’t too bad either.
However, despite the 97.82% payout rate that Golden Thunder has to offer players, the payouts just don’t seem to be too generous enough to win over most gamers. They are certainly fair, there’s no question about that! But, if players want to win seriously big money, then this probably isn’t the game to do that on, no matter how good it might be.

This game hits alot. It was almost instant I started winning. Not just small wins either. I liked the free spins and scatters. Only thing missing is the bonus rounds. Nevertheless this game is very entertaining and full of chances to win money.

This game is paying out the ass, wow! Pardon my french! It started hitting the minute I started spinning! Love the, what do ya call them, wild 'lighting strikes!' Oh, random wilds, I like what I call em' better. The graphics are angelic like, very sort of supernatural and cool! Not me, never mess with God or his...

I'm glad they didn't decide to call this "Zeus", as apart from the WMS slot there are already a whole bunch of games with that name ... and as shown here, theres nothing to stop anybody using the Zeus concept, under an original name ! I don't often feel too impressed with the visuals of Cayetano games, but this time something really just works for me - it all looks very clean and smooth, and I like the stacked wilds too.

I'm playing for fun money and enjoyed this a lot. I got the bonus several times (40x, 20x, 40x, 15x my wager) and during regular play got some significant thunder payouts. I like the concept.
