Theme

The music and sound effects place this game somewhere in the middle of redneck territory in the USA. The upbeat tempo is from that area. Not that it’s bad, the style is, in fact, quite fitting for these fast-rolling reels.

The background is relatively well light with the shine of diamonds and emeralds, with the reels full of treasures and ores. Special features bring all sorts of interesting animations on the screen, which also explains why the game takes a bit longer to load than normal.

Betting Options and Functions

All of the five reels come with five symbol positions. This also extends the pay-lines from the single digits into double digits, fifty of them crossing from the leftmost reel onwards. You start by betting one coin per line, which luckily doesn’t translate to one of whatever denomination you are using.

The payouts are in the middle class. The biggest win you can score is 250 times the bet, which is more than enough to strike gold in case more than one of these combinations hits the reels at the same time. The theoretical return to player is quite good, standing at 96.5 %.

Features

The gold train! What else would have in a slot with this theme? This bonus comes into play when a drill and two carts enter the reels. 

This will then form a train, which will travel throughout the different symbol positions, digging for gold and transforming all other symbols into wilds. Each gold nugget collected will increase the size of the train as it moves from one digging site to the next. Once all gold nuggets are collected the train departs, but not before triggering a re-spin with all the wilds sticky!

Collecting gold nuggets also has the added side effect of awarding bonus games. Three are awarded initially, with a further one given for each gold symbol collected. Here again the above train comes into play, ploughing through the reels until the end of the spins, and you return to the normal game with all the extra winnings!

Our Take

This High 5 Gaming title is without a doubt worthy addition to the collection of existing mining games. The basic game dishes out small and medium wins, which with some luck can criss-cross the fifty pay-lines in such a way that you don’t even need the bonus features. But when the bonus features do hit, that’s when the game really gets exciting!
