Collecting gems is definitely one of the most common themes between video slot games, but “Hot Gems” deserves our attention. Betting Options
There are five reels and three rows in the “Hot Gems” video slot. It has 25 bet lines, and the player can set the bet value per line from 0.01 to 1.00. Win combinations are paid from left to right, except scatter symbols which pay any. Wins in line are multiplied by the line bet.
The lowest paying symbols in this game are colorful gems. Depending on the number of them on the bet line, orange and green gems can pay 2, 5, 15, or 40. Little more is offered for blue and purple gems, 30 for four of them, and 60 for five gems of a kind. The best options for a player are red and yellow diamonds, so red can bring 7, 40, and 80, until yellow ones pay 10, 40, and 80, depending on a number.
There are four more regular symbols in “Hot Gems”. Also depending on their number, higher-paying symbols are trolley, pickaxe, and lantern. The Trolley is paid 30, 100, and 200, the Pickaxe can bring 50, 150, and 300, until 75, 200, and 400 is paid for the Lantern.
The highest paying symbol is the Miner which pays 100, 250, and 5000.
Special Features
There is a WILD symbol which substitutes all other symbols except scattered HOT GEMS and the FREE GAMES symbol. The wild symbol can land on reels 2, 3, and 4.
Scatter symbol HOT GEMS can be paid 1, 4, 20, and 100, depending on a number and they pay both ways on the bet lines.
“Hot Gems” has one more special symbol FREE GAMES that can land only on reels 1, 3, and 5. In the case they appear on all three reels at the same time, 15 bonus games are triggered.
During Bonus games, the Collapsing reels feature is active with the special multiplier. Any spin begins with a multiplier x1, and any win is multiplied by the multiplier.
Whenever the reels explode the multiplier increases for 1, and any resulting winning combinations are multiplied by the new multiplier. The next explosion again raises the multiplier for 1 and it can reach up to x5.
A new spin resets the multiplier to x1, and bonus games can not be retriggered.
The collapsing reels feature is triggered by any win in the main game and in bonus games. Once all wins are counted, any symbol that participates in the win, explodes and symbols from above fall down. This process will repeat until there is no more winning combination on the reels.
Conclusion
Despite the very common theme, “Hot Gems” is a great slot with many advantages like bonus games, collapsing reels, and increasing multiplier. Paying Scatter, and Wild substitutions are also useful options that can attract players. One of the best wagering slots if you want to wager on playtech. But why don't they have multipliers in base game. The free game feature makes you wait a lot but damn it feels great when you get it. X50 is the minimum that i have had everytime i hit bonus.

But, the multipliers are available only in the free game up to 5x, which is rather small in the collapsing reel games. But, the good point is scatters which pay 1 x bet with 2 scatters anywhere on the reels. Line wins...

Horrible audio, it is a different slot from this provider, something between Gonzo and Cool Cat, I don't play it this often, at the end the music is a big turn off.

The intro movie was really great and when it was over the slot looked very good and playable. I don't normally like any gem/jewelry themed slots but this one has what it got to make a good game. Possible winnings from this slot are bit low on the main game they are boosted up in the free spins with the increasing multiplier after any collapsing winning combination so that 5000x line bet will increase to very high. Wow, I hadn't even realised that Playtech had a 'rolling reels' game in their catalogue until I saw this! Whats really interesting is that the payouts do not seem to be substantially reduced like they are in the Microgaming alternatives like Break-Away, I'm sure there must be a trade off somewhere of course but its not...
