Kitchen Drama: BBQ Frenzy

The name is misleading, as there is no kitchen here at all. Just a BBQ spot. Perhaps there was drama in the kitchen, which ended with one side sent to barbeque instead? Hard to say, and the story doesn’t tell. Kitchen Drama offers wilds, free spins, and spirit spins, as well as other bonus features. The reel set up is the standard five times three.

Theme

The screen offers a look on a barbecue, with charcoal and different food items forming the cast of paying symbols in use. There’s some music to listen, though it could have used a bit more variety. Sound effects do their magic whenever the reels are spun or winning combinations formed. The kitchen drama part is missing, but there’s plenty of BBQ to go with the theme.

Betting Options and Functions

There are twenty fixed paylines with the bet set via a simple selector. Total stake runs from 0.20 to a full hundred coins. The bet level is completely up to the player and doesn’t affect any gameplay features. The paylines run from left to right and three to five symbols are needed to claim a prize.

There are three different charcoal symbols, which pay between five to sixty times your line bet. Mushrooms, corn, steaks, peppers, and chilis form the cast of higher paying symbols. For these the possible wins range between six and 200 times your line bet.

Whenever a winning combination is formed the symbols taking part disappear from the reels, with new ones dropping in to form more combinations.

Features

The two main features are both on the screen, to be found on the left and right side of the reels. The Fiery Chili Spirit Spins is activated whenever you have three consecutive wins.You get a free spin, with a randomly chosen symbol transformed into a wild.

The Wild BBQ Spins active when you manage to gather the three main ingredients: peppers, mushrooms, and steaks. When triggered you get five free spins, with each Sheriff Wild symbols adding a win multiplier to the combinations. There is also a random feature that triggers one of the ingredients, and possibly triggering the free spins.

The Sheriff Wild appears only during the BBQ free spins. The wild moves from right to left, one step at a time whenever the reels collapse with wins. It stays in play until it reaches the leftmost reel. The Sheriff Badge wild, in turn, works like a normal wild, with the chance of triggering the Fiery Chili feature.

Our Take

The cartoonish take on barbecuing combined with a plethora of features and free spins creates a fun and entertaining game. The wins trigger quite often, and it’s not too difficult to see three or more wins falling due to the collapsing symbols. The game is certainly not the next massive hit but it does have replay value and will certainly find an audience that will keep spinning it now and then again.
