The style here reminds me of those weird Soviet cartoons and shows, or perhaps modern shows like Robot Chicken. Not my personal favourite, yet I have to admit that it is very well done. The game has more symbols than your usual slot would, meaning that the variance is somewhat high. Wins, on the other hand, seem to be quite average.

Theme

Wager2Go has chosen quite a strange theme. It combines animals and science, as you would expect from a game called Lab Rats. This is then morphed into some sort of semi-comical setting by the style of the artwork itself. It is quite well done, just a bit weird. Playing the game is a bit of a surreal experience, though this is not taken too far. At the core you will find a rather normal slot: the reels spin the same as in any other game.

Betting Options and Functions

With 40 paylines on the reels the minimum bet is 0.40 coins per spin. This can be upped all the way to one coin per line, which results in a total bet of 40 coins per spin. The reel setup is the usual five reels with three symbol position each. The company has used the same system in other games, and if you are familiar with those then the only surprises here are the theme and special features.

The top win is 500 times the line bet. This comes when five lab rats hit an active payline. From there on the prices go down steadily with the ten other symbols. The least you are going to score form a five symbol combo is 50 times the bet; three and four symbol combos pay significantly less, though they will still rake in at least five times the line bet.

Features

The scatter is the twelfth symbol, and as usual, the wild doesn’t count since it simply replaces all other symbols except the scatter. Three scatters are needed to launch the bonus game, and this also gives the player a one time win of 40 times the line bet. Four scatters pay out 200, and five scatters 400 times the line bet.

The bonus game itself is quite simple. You are given a number of choices and all you need to do is open different cages. You might land nothing at all, but most of the time you pick up wins of different size. Big wins are rare as you would expect, though you are pretty certain to walk away with some nice prizes.

Our Take

This slot is not disappointing but neither is it interesting. All in all, you might want to play a few spins just to check out the theme, but even then you should probably opt for play money spins. There are other games that have plenty more to offer, especially when it comes to special features and prizes. Not much else we can say about this game.
