Not to be confused with a scratch card game of the same name, Pots o Luck slot is a whole different ballgame. The name of the game comes from the jackpots, one on top of each of the five reels. The slot is quite unique in the sense that it only offers a handful of symbols, and fills the reels with empty slots. With twenty paylines there’s still plenty of chances to win.

Theme

As the name should tell the theme is very much Irish. Horseshoes and clovers, pots of gold and rainbows that lead to them. And of course, in the background a typical Irish forest where the pixies are to be found at. The sound effects are meant to create a sense of mystery, whereas music has been almost completely forgotten. I have to say that the latter is an inexcusable mistake, as the Irish are known for their fondness for music. In this sense, the slot is somewhat lacking, even though on a few special occasions the fast beats do come into play.

Betting Options and Functions

Paylines are fixed and the only available function for the player is to select his total bet. This ranges from 200 to 0.20 coins per spin, giving plenty of possibilities for different bankrolls.The game has quite high volatility so small bets are recommended.

Contrary to most slots here the paylines don’t run just from left to right. They also run from right to left and from the center to any direction. Three to fives symbols in a row are needed for a win. There are only three normal symbols, the clover, the titular symbol and the horseshoe. In addition, the slot also features a special symbol for free spins. Maximum win on a single spin is 250 000 coins.

Features

The special feature begins once a slot machine, disguised as a caravan, lands on the reels. Or that is what the symbol looks like to me anyway. Each symbol gives you one spin on the special game. These are not free spins, but rather separate spins in a three reel one winline set. Silver, bronze and gold medals, or a combination of them, pay anywhere between one to ten times your bet. Landing three jackpot symbols will win you the jackpot on that particular reel.

Our Take

Pots o Luck tries hard to be a different kind of slot, and it certainly does not fail in that. Unfortunately, it fails in the things it has chosen to be different in. High volatility doesn’t combine well with lack of features in general, and lack of music in an Irish themed slot is unforgivable in its own right. With only the jackpot offering worthwhile wins it’s hard to keep on spinning when most of the time the reels end up empty. Outright there is nothing wrong with the slot, it just doesn’t really have anything in it that would keep you spinning.
