Ever since the first Sherlock Holmes story was published all the way back in 1887 he’s been the most popular detective character in history. The Guinness Book of World Records even lists the character as being the one portrayed the most times in movies.

The massive popularity of Holmes has seen the stories and the character himself be adapted into countless movies, TV shows, and computer games.

Theme

Over the course of more than century, adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories have taken the character everywhere from present day to even space.
