Even if you’re from the younger generations, chances are that you’ve at least heard of this classic game. It just so happens that Space Invaders and Space Arcade share that aesthetic quality…

…which has made the classic 1978 Nishikado’s arcade masterpiece an instant evergreen title. Younger players will love the vintage vibe, while older players might get a rush of nostalgia! This comes as no surprise since NoLimit City’s graphic designers were obviously influenced by the original game’s design.

One of Space Arcade’s most redeeming qualities has got to be the simple base game that drives the whole thing. It the epitome of simplicity!

Cold, Dark Space Full of Colors?

Space is supposed to be pitch black, but pitch black is not all that attractive to look at. The creators of this game did their best to put together an ambient that very clearly lets you know you’re in space…

...but also keeps things colorful and engaging at the same time. Aside from this, the rest of the game is rather minimalist on its own. We are talking simple, basic icons and symbols. From a UI point of view, that approach is definitely appreciated.

Keeping things simple and clutter-free is the way to go. Where the game compensates are special symbols and animations. While they counter the overall minimalist theme of the game, they do it in a tasteful, appropriate way – one that doesn’t nuke the entire aesthetic!

Functions, Options and Other Features

Slot games don’t run on aesthetics alone – that much is common knowledge. Fortunately for us, Space Arcade features a smooth core engine underneath all that cool exterior. If you are a fan of standard triple reel design…

…you will absolutely love this title. Controls are right where you’d expect them to be and quite intuitive to use. That’s great considering that nothing is labeled.

Accessing the options and settings is easy. They’ve tucked all of those screens away behind a single button. Once you access that menu, everything else branches out from there.

The game, despite being rather different from the rest, still follows that standard layout. That means wilds and multipliers. The wild this title offers comes in the form of a Winged Wild symbol that substitutes for any other symbol. Once you get it…

…the Winged Wild symbol will give you unlimited free spins until it runs out of the reel area. One of the awesome things about this title is that wild symbols can appear on any reel!

Our Take:

Space Arcade offers many things, but most importantly it proves that a good slot game doesn’t need to be packed full of clutter. You can tell it’s a NoLimit City title. It is polished to perfection, just like Fruits – another one of their awesome titles.

The replay value, minimalist design and butter smooth gameplay make Space Arcade a game worth checking out at the very least.
