A space-age slot with the 1980s, Tron-like feel, Star Fortune takes players on an intergalactic quest for profit and adventure. While the design is strong here, the Bee-Fee design team comes up short on features, limiting this slot to the status of a fun diversion, rather than an instant classic. Still, even without free spins or other bonus features, there’s a lot to like here.

Theme

The translucent reels are set against a purple vision of outer space, with planets, asteroids, and a ship-less astronaut in the foreground and a gorgeous nebula behind. Gaming symbols include six different colors and shapes of space crystals, as well as two glowing planetary spheres, one blue and one red. The rocket symbol acts as wild, simultaneously substituting for other symbols to form winning combinations, appearing as a stacked symbol, and triggering respins. 1980s-style music, reminiscent of Enjoy or Brian Eno, accompanies gameplay.

Betting Options, Functions, and Features

Interstellar travel requires great attention to detail, and in this respect, Star Fortune does not disappoint. There are ten adjustable paylines, each paying in both directions. Bet size is set simply from 0.05–50.00 times the betting currency per spin. Autoplay can be toggled on or off, a deviation from the norm in slot play, where this feature is selected for a finite quantity of spins. Detailed paytable information and sound options are available at the lower corners of the game screen. Information regarding the overall theoretical return to player ratio is unfortunately not available, which is usually an indicator of below-average odds for players.

A gamble feature is available for all wins in base play, so long as autoplay is not engaged. Players are taken to a separate screen and made to choose between photographs in two colors, red and black. Predicting the correct color will double the size of the win, while the incorrect color will drop the win size down to zero. Players can go double-or-nothing multiple times in a row for any win.

The only additional gaming feature is related to rocket ship gaming symbol, which appears fully stacked on the middle three reels. Each appearance of this symbol triggers one automatic free spin, with the stacked wild staying in place while the other symbols respin. Since so many gaming symbols occur in stacks, and since more than one stacked wild symbol may appear, these respins are the source of this game’s biggest payouts.

Our Take

While Star Fortune is not without charms, it’s very difficult to imagine any slot without major bonuses, free spin features, or RTP information making any player’s list of favorites. With that caveat, though, this game is well worthy of players’ attention, if only for the retro feel and beautiful interstellar design.
