A ferocious werewolf is terrorizing the populace, and it’s up to the wolf hunting duo to set things to rights. Yggdrasil’s fearsome slot is packed with features, including three different free spin features, werewolf fights with extra wilds at stake, and sticky wild respins.
Theme
The world of Wolf Hunters is foggy, ominious, and bloody – the five reels stand before a gothic manor with a glowing, lupine gargoyle atop its gates. Gaming symbols include green potions, a nasty steel trap, and a blue-tipped projectile, as well as the four playing card suits, which act as lower-value symbols. Whenever the top-paying werewolf symbol appears, a fight takes place between hunter and beast, with potential bonuses in store. A wild symbol substitutes for other symbols to form winning combinations while also triggering free respins with every appearance. The two hunters appear on the outer reels only, triggering a bonus feature. The dramatic soundtrack would fit right in in a Hollywood horror film. Overall, the style of this game is indisputably top-notch.
Betting Options and Functions
In a slot with so much gruesome glamour and so many features available, its reassuring to know that the veteran design team at Yggdrasil is on hand, making sure all gaming fundamentals are well attended-to. There are twenty fixed paylines, each paying from left to right. Coin value is adjustable from 0.005–5.00 for an overall per-spin bet range of 0.10–100.00 times the betting currency. Autoplay is available for up to 1000 spins, or without limit, though players should exercise caution, as there are no loss or time limits available. Player options, payline information, game rules, and more are available via an expanding menu at the lower left corner of the game screen. The overall theoretical return to player ratio is quite good at 96.3%.
Features
Wild respins are available on every spin in this slot: every wild that appears on the reels will stay in place for one free respin, while the other symbols spin again… this feature can repeat without limit as long as new wild symbols continue to appear. What's more, every werewolf symbol results in a showdown between hunter and wolf. If the hunter wins, the symbol becomes wild, triggering a respin. A victorious hunter also gains one rage point while lessening the health points of the werewolf by one – as is clarified below, both of these bring players one step closer to free spins.
Free spins are at the lucrative heart of this game, and they can be triggered in three different ways. The quickest way to the bonus game is through the appearance of both bonus symbols on the outer reels. Ten free spins will be awarded, with the bonus symbols remaining on the reels in order to provide hunter upgrades. Collecting three bonus symbols during free spins “powers up” the hunters, resulting in all werewolf symbols turning to wild and expanding to fill additional reel positions… powering up also adds two free spins to the total.
The Hunter Free Spins feature is triggered whenever players collect 100 rage points on one of the meters at either side of the reels. Here, ten free spins will also be awarded, but both hunters begin fully powered up. Finally, Slayer Free Spins occur when the werewolf’s health meter drops to zero. Once more, ten free spins are awarded, with all werelf symbols automatically turning wild and expanding to fill other reel positions.
Our Take
Yggdrasil demonstrates the very best of what modern slots can do in Wolf Hunters. With pristine design, features galore, and high RTP, this title is an instant classic.

Wolf Hunters was a confusing slot for me. I wasn't quite sure what the point of the rage points were. I also seemed confused because the graphics were consistently going off so I would think I had won but I didn't. Personally not for me, maybe it will appeal to others.

Wolf Hunters is another gathering game where you collect rage points, but I don't really like this game because I don't understand why there are so many animations even when you don't win anything, it is frustrating to watch. It also feels hopeless to try to get the meters filled. Basic game awards only average wins, but...

This one could be an alright game, if the werewolves life points were so staggering. At 600 and trying to get it to 0 is just insurmountable. Too much, and not enough excitement to keep me entertained for that long, which makes this game all in all, a big waste of time in my books.

Wolf Hunters is more frustrating than I thought at first sight. I supposed that the re-spins would give better chance to higher wins. But, in the real game, the Wolf kills too many hunters, LoL. It is a little awkward to see my hunters get killed my Werewolf in the game. The free spin is very hard to get too. The...

I have played this game only once so far and Yggdrasil has always great graphics and smoothly pacing reels. Wolf Hunters is a good game but I haven't got one single big win so far.
