United Kingdom
The United Kingdom encompasses an area that is twice the size of New York. Great Britain consists of England, Wales and Scotland along with Northern Ireland that covers the United Kingdom.
The Gambling Act of 2005 was established in Great Britain to regulate gambling in a partnership with licensing authorities. The independent body was developed and is sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sports. The Commission has grown to an approximately 200 employee staff with offices located in Birmingham, England, Scotland and Wales. The Gambling Commission is funded by organizations and independent operators that they license. Due to higher tax rates, many gambling operatos have moved to other countries for lower taxes, which are more cost effective.

Licenses
A gambling license is required when an operator manufactures, supplies or installs gambling software that is in connection to remote gambling but does not include gaming machines. Supplying operators in Great Britain whether your company is located abroad requires a UK gambling license.
Gambling sectors under the UK Gambling Commission include Arcades, Sports Betting, Bingo, Casinos, Gaming machines, Lotteries, Raffles, Gambling Software and Online Gambling. Gambling fees vary depending on each sector and are broken down by operator license application, annual license, personal management license, personal function license and premise license.
Gambling advertising in Great Britain is restricted to operators that are licensed by the Gambling Commission, EEA operating jurisdictions including Gibraltar and white listed jurisdictions.
In 2017, UKGC introduced new advertising restrictions to combat ads or third party media designed or worded in a way that might appeal to minors aged 17 or less. According to the updated rules and regulation, defined in collaboration with the Advertising Standards Agency, operators licensed under UKGC, including whitelisted jurisdictions, are urged not to use freely accessible advertisements with vivid colors, cartoon-like appearance, images of comic books, animals or any other children-oriented references or allusions. Likewise, advertisement of bonuses and promotions must not contain misleading information: referring to deposit-based slot spins as ''free'' is no longer allowed; terms such as ''extra spins'' or ''casino spins'' must be used instead. The restrictions are enforced under the threat of fines, penalties and other sanctions.
Age and Identity Verification
As of the 7th of May 2019 every UK licensed casino operator will need to verify all new and existing players names, addresses and date of birth before he/she/they can:
- Bet with Real Money
- Bet with Bonuses
- Deposit
- Access Free-to-Play/demo games
- Be eligible for any bonuses
- Receive any marketing campaigns such as emails advertising bonuses
Read more about this requirement here and how players and operators can verify age and identities.
Credit Card Gambling Banned
Credit cards were banned 14 April 2020. This means that all UKGC licensed casinos cannot accept deposits via credit cards. Debit cards are allowed as per usual. Credit Cards that were added before 6 April 2020 will not be enabled for deposit purpose, only for withdrawals.
Online Gambling Standards
The UK Gambling Commission has technical standards and requirements that must be met by the gambling software and operator licensing holders. Technical standards cover, but are not limited to; customer account information, displaying transactions, auto-play, time critical events and responsible product design.
Players are protected by standards that include rules and game descriptions and the likelihood of winning. Limiting collusion and cheating aids in the prevention of fraudulent activity. Games must generate random outcomes for honest, fair and unpredictable results.
Security requirements are obligatory, setting standards that must be met by operators. Preventive measures to protect customers include safe electronic transmission of sensitive personal information, banking transactions and guard against any unauthorized users.
Quality testing standards ensure that the remote gambling operation and software are in complete compliance and is strictly enforced by the Gambling Commission. This process is conducted by an accredited independent auditor to conduct and verify compliance with a certificate of authenticity.
