Parent company intends to sell its remote gambling developer

MenMedia recently reported that upon conducting a strategic review, IGT may announce the sale of its high profile remote gambling supplier Barcrest, located in Ashton under Lyne in Manchester region, UK.

Apart from its home country, Barcrest has spread its operations Europe-wide, providing bet shops, bingo halls, pubs and other enterprises with machines, and offering products for remote gaming through mobile devices, interactive digital TV and the Internet.

According to some sources, IGT (which also owns Million-2-1, an online and mobile gaming company from Manchester) has put Global Leisure Partners, London in charge of the review, allegedly for the price of GBP100 million.

Barcrest now has the turnover of GBP40 million per annum and employs 300 people. The price of the company, when they were taken over from the Bass group in 1998, was GBP42 million

The reports that IGT is strategically revising Barcrest were confirmed by Global Leisure Partners’ spokeswoman, who added that all options are still open. "We are contacting a number of parties that may have a potential interest," she added.
