Back Update: Nevada Licenses for WMS AND ACEP

An announcement came on Sept. 20 from the Nevada Gaming Commission that its board has decided to award licenses to WMS Gaming Inc. (WMS) and American Casino & Entertainment Properties (ACEP).

ACEP, who own U.S. land casinos that include the Stratosphere Hotel Casino and Tower, Aquarius, Arizona Charlie's Decatur and Arizona Charlie's Boulder, have been awarded an interactive gaming license to operate as a gaming provider in the State. This will enable its interactive subsidiary to go live with a free-to-play business model for the time being, and to a switch to real-money-play based on its success.

On the other side, WMC received both an interactive gaming manufacturer license and a service provider license. Thanks to the interactive gaming license, the company will be able to enter partnerships with Nevada casino operators to provide online poker to players.

According o WMS president, Orrin J. Edidin, "Nevada is a recognized leader in gaming regulation and is moving consistently forward with rules and regulations for interactive gaming enablement and we are looking forward to providing our customers in the state with industry-leading products and services in a safe and secure online environment."
