PayPal simply didn't give a crap and decided to do whatever they wanted to. yuck.

Finally!PP is not serious!Many problems for us small customers and it allows large customers to do anything illegal. 7.7 is too little!

I don't necessarily believe that those money transaction were for the production of weapons of mass destruction but PayPal got caught :) and why not sanction the american companies that made those transaction? Well... Sanctions are sanction, I think Cuba will soon get rid of the US sanctions.

WOW , This shocks me that paypal made such a costly mistake. I hope they do not make us ( customers ) of pay pal pay for it by raising the fees that they charge. I figured for every $50 I get that comes from out of the usa I get charged almost $5 for transaction. $7.7 is a hard hit and am sure some where they will make...

hello my paypal account have many years and is used only for purchases in the shops outside of Brazil,I agree with the fine imposed by the USA and would not be a good idea create problems with the government...anyway found it very strange paypal have done it..

This news surprised me a lot. I'm not using PayPal, because in Macedonia PayPal is not allowed, just before six months our government allowed it's citizens to use PayPal, but just for shopping online. It's strange for this big, and World famous company to make this kind of "mistake", but in my opinion, no matter which company...

I think it is a very serious thing and the $7.7 million fine sounds like a lot, but Paypal has billions, so it doesn't really sound like enough of a penalty to me.

They should beware from now and hot-point-countries will not gonna transfer again for sure!

I open account on PayPal but I never use it. For me the best way for online payments is Moneybookers or skrill. I use Skrill for few years and I never had any problem with them. Now I hear that will maybe neteller buy skrill and don't think that is good for us who love skrill because for sure they will change a lot of thing...

So the reason for this fine was that PayPal allowed transactions by residents of countries the US government has imposed economic sanctions against and is not specifically gambling related? I can understand how some could have gotten through if customers misrepresented themselves e.g. using fake ID/address or proxy servers;...

I agree with you sharpe, that fine was just a drop in a very large bucket for Pay Pal. I do know one thing, I have learned my lesson, the hard way about using those prepaid card accounts like the one Pay Pal has. I have a Pay Pal account and recently added a pay pal prepaid card. This is great for me to transfer deposits...

I do know one thing, I have learned my lesson, the hard way about using those prepaid card accounts like the one Pay Pal has. I have a Pay Pal account and recently added a pay pal prepaid card. This is great for me to transfer deposits from LCB that go on my Pay Pal account and then I can instantly transfer the money to the prepaid card to buy pasteandpay vouchers to deposit at whatever casino takes pasteandpay. That is a great little us of Pay Pay. Now, those illegal payments were probably for a large sum that they could get a good fee for processing. I guess they just couldn't resist.

PayPal is a worldwide monster company and I don't think that this fine from $7.7 million is even a serious amount for them and of course they will prefer to pay that and save themselves further problems with the U.S. government. The strange thing is that they have been doing this transactions for years.

I was very surprised to see this. Lately I've been very disappointed with paypal, I registered there my profile and got a payment and they froze it and made my profile not basic but "seller" one. I wrote them multiple times but they didn't understand. I think Paypal is easier for paying for goods (like ebay, fro example)...

They also take comission to regular payments.
