The Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee passed a new online gambling bill, Bill HB649.
The bill is sponsored by chairman of the committee John Payne, and once enacted, will make online gambling legal in the state to those aged 21 and over providing the operation is partnered with a Pennsylvanian brick and mortar casino with a licensing application cost of $5 million.
“With the passage of H.B. 649, the House Gaming Oversight Committee has proven their commitment to providing Pennsylvania residents with a safe and regulated place to play online poker within their own borders,” John Pappas, executive director of the PPA said.
“It is our hope that the legislation will be enacted on its own or as part of the state’s 2016 budget by the end of this year.”
The bill must obtain the House vote before progressing to the Senate.

Looks like we're going to have online gambling in Pennsylvania. I don't see any problems, not really. As far as I know, there are about a dozen land casinos in PA and I'd think any number of them would jump at the chance to go online, heck, they may be standing in line for the chance. The age is going to be twenty-one and...

The age is going to be twenty-one and not eighteen, well I'm surprised. That too will probably change down the line somewhere. But now, this is for Pennsylvania and your gonna have to either live in Pennsylvania or physically be there when you are gambling, so I'm not jumping up and down yet. But, it's a start......

Oh yeah can't wait especially since i am from Pennsylvania i am so excited it is just a matter of time and i wont have to feel like i am doing something illegal. This is good news for any gamers in Pennsylvania, hope it is sooner then later Thanks Rose

Well all the brick and mortar casino has to do is find a partner with online experience willing to share the costs and responsibilities and voila online gaming in Pittsburgh. Its about time. I as an American am tired of my governments ancient laws about online gambling. Just like their war on drugs it drove it into a segment of society that was taboo. Ive always felt like was a criminal just for playing some slots.
