Back Online Gambling Could be Possible in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Committee passed a new online gambling bill, Bill HB649.

The bill is sponsored by chairman of the committee John Payne, and once enacted, will make online gambling legal in the state to those aged 21 and over providing the operation is partnered with a Pennsylvanian brick and mortar casino with a licensing application cost of $5 million.

“With the passage of H.B. 649, the House Gaming Oversight Committee has proven their commitment to providing Pennsylvania residents with a safe and regulated place to play online poker within their own borders,” John Pappas, executive director of the PPA said.

“It is our hope that the legislation will be enacted on its own or as part of the state’s 2016 budget by the end of this year.”

The bill must obtain the House vote before progressing to the Senate.
