Peter & Sons announced on 11 December 2025 that its next slot release, Barbarossa Dragon Empire, will advance the studio’s well-known franchise with a shift into an Asian-inspired setting. The Barcelona-based developer described the game as both a continuation of familiar themes and an updated interpretation of its established style. Returning characters reappear in the brand’s recognizable artwork, now placed within a new environment designed to refresh the series.
New Entry Brings the Barbarossa Series Into an Asian Realm
The title marks the third chapter in the Barbarossa lineup and builds on the studio’s focus on detailed art direction. Peter & Sons highlighted that Barbarossa Dragon Empire retains the franchise’s Cannonball Double multiplier structure while adding several new features. The Cannonball multiplier, positioned beneath the reels, rises by doubling after each consecutive win. Additional elements - Golden Balls, Wild Balls, and Multiplier Jump Balls - add further ways for the multiplier chain to expand.
During Free Spins, the Cannonball multiplier continues to climb without resetting, which heightens the game’s potential outcomes. A separate version called Power Free Spins boosts the frequency of special multiplier balls. Options such as Ante Bets and a Feature Buy menu are included where allowed. The studio set the maximum win at 40,000x the bet, framing the release as the most ambitious evolution of the franchise to date.

Gameplay Details Expand on the Franchise Formula
The game runs on a 5×3 layout with 243 ways to win. It uses cascading mechanics, where winning symbols disappear and new symbols drop into place. Each cascade places a Wild on the grid and raises the multiplier by doubling it, starting from x1. This chain resets once the spin concludes, except during Free Spins. Golden Balls ensure a win, Wild Balls place an extra Wild, and Multiplier Jump Balls leap ahead on the multiplier track, up to three jumps in one sequence.
Free Spins activate when three Scatter symbols land, awarding seven spins with two more for each additional Scatter. The feature maintains the multiplier across all spins and cannot retrigger. Power Free Spins appear only through the Buy Feature, offering extra multiplier balls and increased volatility.
The game also includes a Golden Bet option that increases the chance of triggering Free Spins at 1.5x the standard bet. The Buy Feature offers three routes into bonus rounds: seven Free Spins at 110x the bet; a random set of seven to eleven Free Spins at 220x the bet; or a random set of seven to eleven Power Free Spins at 330x the bet.
