Back Bethard Obtains Irish iGaming License

Betting giant, Bethard, has managed to secure the acquisition of a remote bookmaker license from Irish Office of the Revenue Commissioners.

The planned launch in Ireland is scheduled for next year and is an integral part of company's larger strategy of entering regulated markets of Europe...

...Ireland's gaming license is the fifth that this betting group has been awarded. Previously, they've attained permissions from these jurisdictions: UKGC, Danish Gambling Authority, Malta Gaming Authority and, last week, Sweden’s

Loteriinspektinonen, for the launch of newly regulated market on January 1st.

Emerald Island Awaits

In a relatively short period of time, Bethard will make this number rise to seven, as two more jurisdictions are in process of reviewing and responding to their application – Spain and German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Both of these should be finalized sometime during 2019.

The key company objective is to get licensed under most regulated European markets by 2020.

Bethard's CEO, Erik Skarp, confirmed these ambitions while commenting on the Irish licensing by saying that expanding their market footprint across Europe is a primary objective.

“We are moving forward at an exceptional speed, and I think we have managed to demonstrate our sincerity in our ambition to create Europe’s leading betting company,” he said, and added:

“In less than one year, we have moved from being a small Swedish niche player, to a force that is to be reckon with in a much larger arena. And this is just the beginning.”

Two Parties Packed With Events

Last month, Irish parliament was facing a serious question of bookmaker taxation...

...Owing to a curious nature of the Finance Bill which is requesting a turnover tax to be doubled, leaving the majority of betting shops in grave jeopardy of being closed for business. This faced an organized outrage and appeals from Irish Bookmakers Association, however, the Parliament decided to proceed with this unpopular measure.

Meanwhile, Bethard extended their strategic partnership with SBTech in November for another five years – the company only has word of praises for their partner whose sportsbook platform they deem crucial to 2018's exponential growth.

Also, rebooting the B2C brand, Fastbet is a viable option currently under consideration by the company's officials who plan to deploy the pay n play site as part of their B2B division expansion. This would be achieved via coalition with Together Gaming and will be delivered to customers in Europe and North America.
