Betsoft has expanded its THE Series lineup with the release of The Neighbor WarsTM, a slot game centered on an escalating feud between suburban rivals Steve and Roger. The latest title combines story-driven gameplay with Hold & Win mechanics, bonus features, and high-volatility action across a five-reel setup.
Set on Lakeview Drive, the game follows two neighbors whose disagreement spirals into a full-scale rivalry. Betsoft presents the conflict through animated gameplay involving damaged mailboxes, lawn gnomes, and escalating acts of retaliation. The company described the release as a continuation of THE Series, which blends recurring mechanics with distinctive themes.
The Neighbor Wars uses a 5x3 reel layout with 25 paylines. The title includes several interconnected mechanics designed to drive bonus opportunities throughout both the main game and feature rounds.
Hold & Win Feature Leads Gameplay Mechanics
The main feature in the game is the Hold & Win mode, which activates when players land six Bonus symbols or five Bonus symbols together with one Boost symbol. Triggering the feature awards three respins.
During the feature, Boost symbols raise the values attached to Bonus symbols already present on the reels, increasing potential payouts. Betsoft also added a MYSTERY Bonus symbol that can appear while the Hold & Win round is active. The symbol transforms into a random reward, including MINI, MINOR, MAJOR, MEGA, or Boost prizes.
The game also includes a Beer Rush mechanic that creates additional opportunities to access Hold & Win rounds. Any Bonus symbol landing during either the base game or Free Spins mode can contribute toward triggering the feature.
Betsoft said the gameplay structure was designed to keep feature activity frequent while maintaining the game’s high-volatility format.
Free Spins And Mystery Mechanics Expand Rewards
Players can trigger the Free Spins Feature by landing three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. The bonus round awards eight free spins and removes lower-paying symbols, leaving only higher-value icons in play.
Wild symbols substitute for every symbol except Bonus, Boost, and Scatter icons. The game also introduces Stacked Mystery Symbol positions across each reel. Before spins begin, these mystery positions convert into matching random symbols, potentially creating larger combinations across the grid.
Another option available to players is the BUY Bonus feature, which grants direct entry into the Hold & Win round without requiring a natural trigger during gameplay. According to Betsoft, the feature can begin with six or more Bonus symbols or with at least five Bonus symbols combined with one Boost symbol.
The company paired these mechanics with fast-paced gameplay intended to reflect the ongoing rivalry between the game’s two central characters.
Betsoft continues expansion of THE Series
Betsoft described The Neighbor WarsTM as another entry built around the core mechanics that define THE Series portfolio. The company said the game combines familiar gameplay systems with a new setting focused on suburban conflict and comedic tension.
Jake Davey, Account Manager Team Lead at Betsoft Gaming, said: “The distinctive THE Series is designed to bring together strong themes and proven mechanics in a way that feels consistent across every release. The Neighbor WarsTM builds on the same core mechanics that players recognize across the series, and what they look forward to returning to play again.”

Betsoft has always been sort of considered as one of like the trashier game providers with their cruddy graphics etc LOL. Buut that being said, they aren't all bad and occasionally you can get nice hits just stay away from most the hold and win titles imo

The theme sounds pretty entertaining honestly. Nice to see something different from the usual ancient gods and treasure-style slots.
