Back Curaçao Regulator Issues Warning On Unlicensed GEM55 Sites

The Curaçao Gaming Authority has issued a public alert cautioning players about a group of online gambling websites operating under the designation “GEM55.” In a notice dated 29 January 2026, the regulator stated that these platforms do not hold authorization and are not licensed to offer gambling services under its supervision.

According to the announcement, the identified websites have presented themselves as legitimate operators despite lacking regulatory approval. The authority said the operators behind these domains used the regulator’s logo and copied elements of its Digital Authorisation Seal without permission. The regulator warned that this misuse aims to create a false impression of compliance and oversight.

The authority emphasized that licensing status plays a central role in player protection, particularly in online gambling environments where verification can prove difficult. By issuing a public notice, the regulator sought to limit potential harm to players who might otherwise rely on visual indicators of legitimacy when choosing where to play.

Misuse of the Digital Authorisation Seal

The regulator provided specific guidance on how players can identify a genuine Digital Authorisation Seal. A legitimate seal appears as a green box displaying the letters “CGA” in white. When clicked, the seal links directly to an official licence certificate hosted on https://cert.cga.cw/, a domain owned and operated by the Curaçao Gaming Authority.

The GEM55-related websites fail to provide this direct link, according to the regulator. Instead, they display copied imagery and details of the seal without functional verification. The authority described this practice as unlawful and misleading, stressing that the absence of a working link to the official certificate signals that the operator does not hold a valid licence.

The regulator advised players to treat such discrepancies as a warning sign. By checking whether a seal links back to the official domain, users can quickly determine whether a platform operates under valid authorization.

Domains Identified In The Warning

The public announcement listed several domains connected to the GEM55 designation. These include gem55.net, gem55.org, gem55rocks.com, playgem55.com, and gem55my.com. The authority urged players not to access or use any of these websites.

In addition to avoiding gameplay on these platforms, the regulator warned against sharing personal, financial, or other sensitive information with the operators. The notice highlighted risks tied to unlicensed platforms, including the lack of regulatory oversight and limited avenues for recourse if disputes arise.

Beyond identifying the specific domains, the authority reminded the public that licence verification remains the most reliable method for confirming an operator’s legitimacy. Players can consult the licence registry available on the regulator’s official website at www.cga.cw. The authority described this registry as the safest way to confirm whether an online gambling operator holds valid authorization.

The warning forms part of broader efforts to counter misleading claims within the online gambling sector and to reduce exposure to unauthorized platforms. By publishing clear identifiers and verification steps, the regulator aims to support informed decision-making among players and reinforce standards within the regulated market.
