Curaçao Sets Gaming Supplier Deadline 2026

The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) has confirmed that supplier licensing and registration requirements under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK) will become fully enforceable on December 24, 2026, ending a two-year transition period for businesses serving the regulated online gambling sector.

The regulator said the new framework introduces separate obligations for domestic and overseas suppliers while requiring licensed operators to work only with registered providers of critical services and goods.

Domestic and Overseas Suppliers Face Different Rules

Under Article 1.5(1) of the LOK, companies established in Curaçao that provide critical goods or services to licensed gambling operators must obtain a supplier licence from the CGA. They must also complete registration with the regulator.

The licensing requirement does not extend to suppliers based outside Curaçao. However, foreign businesses supplying critical products or services to holders of Curaçao gaming licences must register with the CGA before the December deadline.

The authority said these registration requirements apply to overseas suppliers even though they do not need a Curaçao supplier licence.

Article 5.16(4) of the LOK also places obligations on business-to-consumer licence holders, prohibiting them from obtaining critical services or goods from suppliers that have not completed registration. In addition, Article 5.16(1) requires the regulator to maintain a public register of approved suppliers.

Wide Range of Gaming Providers Covered

The CGA's current policy identifies several categories of businesses that fall within the definition of critical services and goods. These include RNG game manufacturers, live dealer studio providers, poker and peer-to-peer software suppliers, lottery providers, sportsbook software developers, bet capture and settlement providers, sports betting line and odds providers, and game aggregators.

The regulator noted that the list is illustrative rather than exhaustive and may be expanded or amended over time.

To help businesses meet the deadline, supplier licence applications are already available through the CGA Online Gaming Portal. The authority encouraged Curaçao-based suppliers currently operating without a licence to submit applications no later than September 1, 2026, allowing sufficient time for processing before the transition period expires.

Registration for both domestic and foreign suppliers is expected to open in October 2026.

Operators Must Verify Their Suppliers

Once the transition ends on December 24, gaming licence holders will be responsible for ensuring that every supplier providing critical services or goods has completed the required registration.

The regulator urged both suppliers and operators to begin preparations immediately to avoid compliance issues once the rules become mandatory.

The December deadline marks a significant change for Curaçao's business-to-business gaming market by ending the period during which suppliers could operate without formal recognition from the CGA. Operators will also need to confirm the registration status of their technology and service providers before continuing business relationships.

Alongside the supplier announcement, the CGA recently introduced a phased policy governing cryptocurrency use by Curaçao business-to-consumer online gambling licensees. The framework covers the full crypto transaction process, including deposits, wagering, withdrawals and treasury management, with implementation planned over the next 12 months.

The regulator has also warned consumers about a gambling website it says falsely claims to hold a Curaçao licence. According to the CGA, EZZ.CASINO has not been authorised and is allegedly using the authority's logo and Digital Authorisation Seal without permission.
