Back Goddess of Love, Part 2

If you are a regular reader of this website...

...you already know this isn't a new topic with me. I wrote about the Goddess of Love, a woman who lived in Palm Springs, CA. some years ago.

She called herself Diana, the Goddess of Love, lived in a sprawling mansion with a pool in Palm Springs, home of the rich and famous.

She ran classified ads in the Palm Springs Press that read like this: ''GODDESS OF LOVE, will satisfy you every romantic dream. Champagne, hot tubs, scented candles and me."

It was signed Diana with a phone number. Naturally, I made the call.

When she discovered I was a writer and poker player, she invited me to her House of Love.

I drove there the following Saturday. I followed a winding road into Palm Springs past houses owned by Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner and Dean Martin.

At the end of a winding driveway I came to a stop in front of a house immersed in a tropical setting. I parked the car, marched up to the door, and rang the buzzer. A black maid opened the door.

"Aw, you must be the writer," she said, smiling as she opened the door.

The place was opulent and smelled of hibiscus. There was an indoor pool, a hot tub and a large living room. A slim blond in a revealing white gown stepped through the doorway.

She was smoking and said, "Hello."

I grinned. "I must be in the right place." She laughed and poured me a glass of white wine. For the next couple of hours, we frollicked, romped, sipped wine and talked.

Being a gentleman who does not kiss and tell, I won't reveal what transpired the rest of that afternoon. All that I will tell you is that Diana delivered what she promised.

Goddess of Love...hmmmm!

Wouldn't it be great if every city had a Goddess of Love or a God of Love and would advertise in the newspaper? That would perk up a lot of lonely people and would generate an economic uptick in certain neighborhoods.

And if I ever get back to Lake Elsinore or Palm Springs, CA., you can bet I'll pick me up a copy of the Gazette!

“The place was opulent and smelled of hibiscus.”
