Gaming Corps has obtained a conditional iGaming supplier licence from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC), clearing the way for the company to enter Alberta’s regulated online gambling market when it launches on July 13, 2026.
The approval came through Gaming Corps Malta Ltd and authorizes the company to manufacture and distribute gaming software within the province. Alberta plans to become Canada’s second open regulated iGaming market after Ontario introduced its framework in April 2022.
The licence gives Alberta operators access to Gaming Corps’ casino portfolio and proprietary gaming mechanics as the province prepares for the launch of regulated online wagering.
Alex Lorimer, COO at Gaming Corps said: “Securing our Alberta licence marks another important step in Gaming Corps’ regulated market expansion strategy. Canada continues to represent a key growth region for us, and we’re excited to bring our expanding portfolio of games and unique mechanics to operators and players in Alberta.”
Alberta Readies Online Gambling Rollout
Provincial regulators continue to prepare for the market opening, with the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission already registering 28 companies seeking entry into the province. Eight major sportsbooks are expected to launch at the start of operations, including BallyBet, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet-Canada, and the Score Bet.
Consumers will also retain access to PlayAlberta, the government-operated gambling platform that currently serves the province.
Officials expect the regulated market to grow after launch as authorities work to transition gray market operators into the legal framework. Fanatics Betting & Gaming has not appeared on the current registration list and also does not operate in Ontario.
Gaming Corps’ Alberta approval forms part of the company’s wider North American growth plans. The studio has continued to pursue licences in regulated jurisdictions while expanding relationships with operators across multiple markets.
Launch Timed Around Major Sporting Events
Alberta scheduled the opening of its online gambling market to coincide with a busy sports calendar. The launch will arrive during the closing week of the FIFA World Cup and shortly before Week 7 of the Canadian Football League season.
The World Cup final is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New York, with matches taking place across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. CFL betting opportunities will also begin quickly after launch, including a July 18 matchup between the Calgary Stampede and the Montreal Alouettes.
Although Alberta has a smaller population than Ontario, provincial projections estimate the regulated online gambling industry could generate roughly CAD $100 million in yearly tax revenue.
Several operators have already started accepting player registrations ahead of launch, including DraftKings, Caesars Sportsbook, BetRivers, and theScore Bet. Alberta has also introduced a policy adjustment allowing gambling-related advertising through online channels such as Google Ads.
Canada Remains Key Expansion Area
The Alberta market opening continues to attract gaming suppliers and sportsbook operators seeking access to Canada’s regulated gambling sector. Ontario currently stands as the country’s only open regulated online gambling market, though Alberta’s launch could increase competition among suppliers and operators entering the province.
For Gaming Corps, the Alberta licence expands its footprint within North America while positioning the company to participate from the first day of the province’s regulated market operations.

Alberta is moving fast with this rollout. Feels like they watched Ontario’s launch closely and are trying to hit the ground running with big operators already lined up from day one.
