Back Gateway Casino Makes Final Choice on Location for Wasaga Beach Project

Gateway Casino from Canada plans its expansion all over the country. The company is looking to acquire the entire market by building new facilities and purchasing existing venues. The brand-new casino project is planned for Wasaga Beach and the exact location has officially been determined.

Taking a Closer Look

The new location will be in Wasaga Beach, close to Mosley St. at Lyons Court and Beachwood Rd. This is the 7.5-acre piece of land which lies at the west end of Wasaga. The new venue could open in this spring if Gateway receives local approvals and purchases the land. The new casino will provide up to $1.4 million to the city each year.

Official Statements

Keith Andrews, Senior VP and Managing Director, said:

“We are very pleased to announce that we expect to soon be able to move forward with our plans to build an exciting new casino and entertainment destination in the Town of Wasaga Beach. We look forward to receiving all the necessary provincial and municipal approvals and concluding the land transaction so we can start construction as quickly as possible.”

The major of the city, Nina Bifolchi, added:

“We are thrilled that Gateway has settled on a site that will best meet its business needs and we look forward to the construction phase starting. We know that Gateway has a tremendous track record in its industry, they are true leaders, and we look forward to a strong and positive relationship with them in Wasaga Beach. Job creation is the single most important factor of this project. It’s anticipated that 150 new jobs will be generated when the casino opens its doors in the summer of 2020. This influx will create economic benefits that will be felt throughout our community for years to come.”

Other Projects

This latest venue is not the company’s only recent project. Gateway has just completed the renovation of its Hanover-based venue which cost about $13.4 million. Another renovation is planned for Cascades Casino construction in Chatham-Kent. The costs are estimated at $27 million and the casino will be open in July.
