Hindus have openly spoken out about offense taken by the recently debuted Ganesha Gold video slot, powered by Pocket Games Soft. The religious group is demanding the developer to withdraw the game from its platform. According to Hindu beliefs, the slot’s content is more than inappropriate.
In a statement from a religious representative, it is emphasized that the game uses Hindu symbols and concepts for commercial purposes which is highly offensive.
Details
The President of the Universal Society of Hinduism, Rajan Zed, required an official apology from PG Soft and its CEO as well as immediate withdrawal of the title which features the story of Hindu deity, Lord Ganesha. Zed said that the connection between the deity and gambling is inappropriate.
Lord Ganesha serves as a famous Hindu God, celebrated in temples and shrines. Hinduism represents the oldest and one of the largest world religions. At the moment, the religion has about 1.1 billion supporters. For these reasons, the religious symbols should not be used for commercial purposes, according to Zed and others displeased by the title.
Zed noted:
“Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be mishandled.”
Further Notifications
Zed also urged intervention from Malta gaming leaders including the National Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Silvio Schembri, Malta Gaming Authority member, Marlene Seychell, as well as MGA CEO, Heathcliff Farrugia. The expectation is that MGA will take proper steps which include, “Monitoring licensed gaming” and “Ensuring the integrity of games and gaming devices.”
The University Society of Hinduism President mentioned that all PG Soft partners should pass through detailed training regarding “religious and cultural sensitivity.” All providers like Nektan, Relax Gaming, SoftGaming, SBOBET, and Leander should do their homework before developing new products.

I remember that another company made a game themed of a Hindu God Durga. The game name was also Durga, as I think. I just played this game Ganesha Gold, and understand that the Hindu people would get furious looking at this game. Freedom of Expression should be protected, but, if Jesus Chirst or Mother Marry, or the Paul is used in the slot game, would it be still enjoyed in Western Society? If any company wants to make a slot with an elephant image as they misunderstand, they should ask Disney corporation a permission to use Dumbo, the flying baby elephant as a slot theme.
