Back Hollywoodbets Deploys Bank-Based ID Verification in UK

Hollywoodbets plans to introduce a new identity verification method for its United Kingdom customers through a collaboration with technology provider ClearStake. The initiative centers on the company’s ID by Bank system, which allows players to confirm their identity through their banking application rather than uploading traditional documents.

The integration forms part of the operator’s efforts to improve its customer due diligence procedures while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Under the new system, players will be able to verify their identity within seconds by authorizing a request through their bank’s digital platform. The approach removes the need to submit documents such as passports or utility bills during account verification.

Bank-Based Verification Replaces Document Uploads

ClearStake’s ID by Bank technology uses secure banking connections to confirm identity details that financial institutions have already verified. When customers select this option, they authenticate themselves through their bank’s application, allowing the system to confirm their information without requesting additional files.

Banks typically conduct extensive identity checks when opening accounts, which allows the verification process to rely on those existing checks. For customers, the process can be completed quickly. For operators, the system reduces the need for manual document reviews.

Traditional verification methods often require staff to inspect uploaded files and request further information if necessary. Automated banking verification removes several of those steps.

Supporting Compliance And Operational Efficiency

Identity verification remains a core requirement for online gambling operators. Companies must confirm the identity of players to comply with rules connected to anti-money laundering efforts, fraud prevention and responsible gambling policies.

Hollywoodbets said the integration of ID by Bank will help it meet these obligations while improving the experience for players during account verification.

Tyla Labuschagne, Compliance Manager at Hollywoodbets, said: “Customer due diligence is a critical part of operating responsibly. By integrating ClearStake’s ID by Bank solution, we will be able to make identity checks faster and more intuitive for customers, while significantly reducing the manual workload for our teams. It is allowing us to improve compliance outcomes, streamline operations and remove friction at key moments in the player journey.”

Automated identity verification tools have gained traction across the online gaming industry as operators look for ways to balance strict regulatory checks with smooth digital registration processes.

Martin Burt, CEO of ClearStake, said: “One of the biggest challenges operators face is completing customer due diligence efficiently without adding unnecessary friction to customers or operational teams. By allowing customers to verify their identity securely through their banking app via ID by Bank, operators like Hollywoodbets can complete CDD checks in seconds, reduce reliance on manual document reviews and strengthen compliance outcomes.”

The collaboration illustrates how gambling operators are increasingly turning to financial technology to improve verification procedures. By relying on regulated banking infrastructure, the system offers a method for confirming identities quickly while maintaining strong security standards.

For Hollywoodbets, the adoption of ID by Bank represents another step in updating its compliance processes as digital verification tools continue to expand across regulated gaming markets.
