Microgaming has introduced a new gameplay feature across multiple titles, releasing three slot games built around its Link & Merge system. The rollout, scheduled for 29 April, includes Almighty Zeus Wilds Link&Merge, Lucky Twins Wilds Link&Merge, and 123 Soccer Link&Merge, each designed to showcase the mechanic within different themed environments.
The company structured the launch to present the feature across several settings at once, allowing players to experience its functionality in varied formats from the outset. Each title incorporates the same underlying system while adapting its presentation to suit its individual theme.
Mechanic Centers On Merging Symbols
Link & Merge modifies the familiar Hold & Spin format by introducing a system where adjacent Coin symbols combine. When at least five of these symbols connect, they transform into a single symbol with a higher value. This action triggers one of three possible bonus outcomes: Jackpot, Multiply, or Spread.
After symbols merge, additional space opens on the reels, creating opportunities for new Coin symbols to appear. This process can continue within the same round, allowing successive combinations to build on each other and potentially increase overall payouts. The design encourages extended sequences where outcomes evolve as new symbols enter play.
Three Themes Highlight Feature Flexibility
Each of the three releases uses a distinct setting to frame the Link & Merge system. Almighty Zeus Wilds Link&Merge places the feature in a mythological context, drawing on imagery associated with ancient deities. Lucky Twins Wilds Link&Merge takes a different direction, focusing on Fortune Cats within a setting that blends traditional symbolism with contemporary elements. Meanwhile, 123 Soccer Link&Merge shifts the focus to a sports environment, presenting gameplay through a tournament-style backdrop.
Despite these differences, all three titles share a consistent structure. Players encounter cluster-based wins alongside a Wild Meter that progresses during gameplay. Free Spins and a Multiplier Trail also form part of the core mechanics, providing additional layers to the experience. Each game integrates the Link & Merge feature into this framework while maintaining its thematic identity.
Simultaneous Release Supports Wider Rollout
Microgaming planned the triple launch to highlight the adaptability of the new system. By introducing three games at once, the company aims to demonstrate how the mechanic can operate across different concepts without altering its core functionality.
A company spokesperson said: “Link&Merge gives us a mechanic with real forward momentum. Each merge has the potential to change the shape of the feature, open up new opportunities and keep the round moving in a way that feels both familiar and fresh. By launching three games around it simultaneously, we are able to give the mechanic a much bigger stage from day one and show the range it can bring to the Microgaming portfolio.”
The simultaneous debut places emphasis on the mechanic itself as much as on the individual titles. Each game acts as a separate entry point while contributing to a broader introduction of the feature.

Interesting move by Microgaming. Link & Merge adds a fresh twist to the classic Hold & Spin formula, but the real test will be how well it keeps players engaged.
