Back Microgaming to Launch The Phantom of the Opera Slot

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ will come to life online as the theme of Microgaming’s new slot game. The company got to work on the game following a licensing deal with The Really Useful Group.

The legendary production, which eventually became a film in 2004, was a musical directed by Joel Schumacher and featured Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum and Minnie Driver, which generated gross revenue of $154 million on a global scale.

Look out for the release of the game, including authentic movie clips, later this year.

David Reynolds, Games Publisher at Microgaming, said, “The Phantom of the Opera has had unequivocal success, played to over 140 million people worldwide! It’s exciting to be working with a musical, a new genre of branded content for Microgaming, extending and broadening our portfolio of games. Due out in Q3, this game will be a true celebration of the world’s biggest opera, balancing a healthy mix of base game features with a feature-packed free spins round.”

It’s now been 31 years since the musical originally opened in Her Majesty’s Theatre. Since then, it has pulled in around $6 billion after being shown in 166 cities in across 35 countries.

The first day at ICE was prehistoric with a Jurassic World scene at Microgaming’s stand in honor of the announcement of the upcoming launch of the new slot based on the film. Here’s a look at the Microgaming Jurassic World display on Day 1 of ICE in London:
