Back NBA In-Play Sports Betting Live From D.C.

NBA is going to be a part of NBC Sports' in-play broadcast service, during which it will present a “predictions game” to its viewers of the nation's elite basketball games.

NBC Sports Washington has announced that it will be including in-play wagering coverage during its live broadcast of the January 11th game between the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks.

The US capital has been stung by the sports betting bee since December, when City Council approved the Amendment Act regarding sports wagering lottery. The NBC Sports premiere will provide a first taste of an in-play wagering broadcast to the American public, in particular DC residents.

NBC Sports Washington, an affiliate of NBC Sports, will be delivering this alternative version of Washington Wizards league showdowns during a run of eight games. It will have the same commentators and commercial breaks as the regular broadcast...

...with an addition of free-to-play prognostic/predictive contest and real-time sports betting data and statistics.

Predict The Game

Titled “Predict the Game,” the elements of the contest and real-time data will be presented on a graphic overlay surrounding the regular live-game display.

These stats will be similar to those presented in a regular sports wagering ambiance…

… but in this iteration, the interactive in-game experience will include win probability, players' and teams' stats, as well as point spreads, odds, and betting parameters as the game progresses.

The Washington affiliate will be continuing Predict the Game contest with seven more telecasts during the 2018-19 NBA season. These will cover Wizards’ games against San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Hornets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.

In order to participate, you can sign in on the NBC Sports Washington site and submit your predictions.

The Entertaining Experience

Participants willing to partake in the live event will be required to answer a series of 30 questions regarding predictions of various game and player performance outcomes, which will be presented on screen at some point during broadcast.

By earning points for each correct response, the prize of $500 is guaranteed for the top predictor at the end of the game.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBC Sports Washington, Damon Phillips, stated:

"Combining the excitement of live Wizards games with engaging predictive gaming and data feeds will deliver a very entertaining experience for viewers, from first-time gaming players to savvy sports bettors.”

He went on to add: “The level of interest from fans, partners and sponsors in this area continues to increase, so we are pleased to offer this compelling product this season."

Making the Most of Supreme Court's Actions

District of Columbia authorities reacted to the Supreme Court ruling that annulled the 1992 federal law which effectively prohibited commercial sports wagering in most U.S. States.

Following December 18th's decision, Washington D.C. has become the seventh US jurisdiction to permit sport wagering.

The legislation gives NBC Sports Washington a head-start on the market and heralds their aspirations to become the go-to source for DC sports betting media.
