OKTO Payments has established a direct integration with Yape, giving digital merchants in Peru access to the wallet's One Shot and On File payment options through a single API connection.
Instead of providing Yape as one payment method among several, OKTO now operates a direct connection to the rail. The company said the setup reduces intermediaries while improving approval performance, reconciliation and the cost of serving merchants.
The integration targets businesses in iGaming, e-commerce, digital content and the creator economy, where payment performance can influence completed transactions and repeat purchases.
One Connection for New and Returning Customers
Yape One Shot allows customers to approve a one-time online purchase without entering extra codes or registering bank account details. When a customer selects Yape on a merchant's website or application, the Yape app opens automatically on the user's mobile device, allowing approval with a single tap.
Yape On File serves repeat users. Customers link their wallet once, after which future payments can be completed with a single click. The two options cover initial transactions as well as subsequent purchases or deposits.
Yape has 16 million active users, including 7 million who had previously been unbanked. More than 5 million local businesses now use the service as their preferred payment method.
Digital payments have also expanded rapidly in Peru. Transactions grew 61.8% during the first half of 2025 compared with the same period a year earlier. E-commerce accounts for about 65% of card spending, while wallet transactions have increased by more than 500% since 2019.
Direct Integration Targets Payment Performance
OKTO's wider platform allows Peruvian merchants to manage local pay-ins and payouts through one integration, alongside treasury and liquidity functions. It also provides automated reconciliation, transaction monitoring and risk management, with compliance incorporated into its architecture.
“This is about helping merchants play differently — to deepen customer relationships, deliver more personalised experiences, and remove the barriers that quietly kill payment conversion,” said César Rodríguez Otaola, General Manager, North Latin America, at OKTO PAYMENTS. “A direct partnership with Yape means we’re closer to the source of money, which translates into better performance and better economics for the businesses that run on us.”
According to OKTO's performance data, transactions through established digital wallets such as Yape can achieve approval rates between 8% and 10% higher than traditional payment methods including bank transfers.
Claudia Silva, Head of Payments at Yape, added: “Yape is the payment method that millions of Peruvians choose every day, and through our Yape On File and Yape One Shot solutions, we seek to simplify the purchasing experience for both merchants and consumers. This integration brings that simplicity directly to digital businesses, providing companies with a fast and reliable way to accept Yape, whether it is a customer’s first purchase or a returning user paying with a single click.
“The result is fewer barriers at checkout and a payment experience built around a platform that people already know and trust. This is an important step toward a more connected and inclusive digital economy in Peru.”
OKTO Payments processes more than €17 billion in annualised volume and serves over 40 international and local merchants across regulated markets in Latin America.

The direct Yape integration is a strong move for OKTO, especially given Yape’s huge user base in Peru. Faster payments and better approval rates could make a real difference for merchants and improve the overall customer experience.
