Play’n GO expands its regulated-market presence in North America after receiving an online gaming supplier licence in Alberta, Canada. The approval permits the company to distribute its catalogue of casino content to licensed operators in the province as preparations continue for the market’s scheduled launch later this year.

The licence came through the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC), giving approved operators access to the company’s premium online casino titles. With this addition, the company extends its Canadian footprint beyond Ontario and Quebec, while maintaining its focus on operating only within regulated jurisdictions.

Play’n GO Chief Commercial Officer Magnus Olsson, said: “Being granted a licence in Alberta is another important step in our North American growth journey and further strengthens our presence in Canada.

"Regulated markets are the foundation of our business, and Alberta represents an exciting opportunity to expand our footprint in a jurisdiction that shares our commitment to high standards, player protection and long-term sustainability."

Company plans involve further alignment of its technology and portfolio with Alberta requirements, with several titles already undergoing certification as part of preparations for launch readiness. The expansion forms part of a broader growth strategy centred on regulated market entry and cooperation with licensed operators.

Retro Arcade Horror Sequel Expands Treats Of Terror Series

Play’n GO has also highlighted a new game release, continuing its Treats of Terror series with a sequel set in a retro-inspired arcade environment.

Treats of Terror II is a 5x5 grid slot that places players inside an 1980s American arcade where the concessions and snacks take on an unsettling life of their own. The setting features glowing machines, sticky floors, and a nostalgic atmosphere where arcade culture is reimagined with a horror twist.

Central to the game is the Gobstopper, a roaming creature tasked with tracking down prizes and consuming them, adding tension to the arcade setting. The visual style combines bright candy colours with darker shadows, creating a contrast that reinforces the stylised horror theme.

The title follows the original Treats of Terror, which was set in a haunted cinema, and continues the franchise’s use of stylised horror in different entertainment venues.

Magnus Wallentin, Games Ambassador at Play’n GO, said: “Treats of Terror II is built around a simple idea – comfort-food nostalgia, then the rug pull. The arcade is colourful, funny, and slightly disgusting in the best way, and the Gobstopper makes sure it never feels safe for long.”

According to the company, the release continues its approach of blending nostalgic themes with stylised horror elements, using familiar leisure settings reinterpreted through a darker creative lens.

Treats of Terror II presents a reinterpretation of retro arcade culture, combining playful design elements with unsettling character concepts in a continuation of the series’ thematic direction.

Both announcements underline the company’s focus on regulated expansion and content development across established and upcoming markets, with Canada remaining a central region in its North American operations while its game portfolio continues to draw on nostalgic entertainment settings.
