Back Quickspin Rolls Out First Reactor Game With 7x7 Configuration

Ancient Egypt has been an inspiration to many software providers over the years. Perhaps the popularity of this genre can best be described by taking a look back at some of the highest-ranking slots by Playtech, Quickspin’s parent organization and other leading providers in the industry.

This November, the provider has decided to commend its portfolio by launching Golden Glyph, a reactor type game that is rich in features, tumble mechanics, power wild modes and free spin rounds.

Inspired by the civilization of ancient North Africa, this game comes with a brand-new 7x7 reel-row pattern and a perfect portrait configuration.

A Swarm of Wilds and Multipliers

After discovering this slot’s main symbols and features from the paytable, including Tumbling, Power Wilds and four game-changing Power-Ups, players are in for a huge surprise…

…although major wins are concentrated around the Golden Scarab, Eye of Horus, Blaze of Fire and a Free Spins Bonus round, it’s the Golden Glyph Symbol that fans should be aware of the most!

To activate all Power-Ups, players must first land a Power Wild win. By landing the Golden Scarab, a streak of 4-10 wilds will spread wealth all over the place, and the Eye of Horus will remove low-paying icons only to transform them into payouts! The provider has in fact used a similar concept in its recently published slot Wild Tome of the Woods with four reels, six rows and 26 betways.

Last but not least, the Blaze of Fire will burn all other standard symbols and transform them into more wins. The highest chance of winning a fortune is during the Free Spin mode, when Golden Glyph might trigger up to 13,000x one’s bet!

“When we started working on Golden Glyph, we wanted to create a game that felt like a classic puzzle or tile-matching game, like ‘Puyo Puyo’ and ‘Bomberman: Panic Bomber’. We also wanted to combine the characteristics of these types of games with the power-up features of classic RPG games, like ‘Golden Axe’ or ‘Gauntlet’, where you get to collect and use power-ups to perform magic,” said Clint Anderson, producer at Quickspin.

Ditching the Rectangular Screen

Coming up with a seemingly applicable graphic design for the game was quite a challenge, according to the lead artist. The group wanted to use small, detailed icons in combination with shields, swords and armor equipment.

To fit all these symbols and build a responsive menu along the way was one of the many “design iterations” but the artists managed to squeeze difficult formats that usually come in a rectangular shape.

Michael Spinks, FX artist commented the following about Golden Glyph:

“We tried to figure out a way to make it work. That’s when we came up with this large, heavy golden wheel that’s filled with mystical and magical symbols – and this is now one of the best parts of the game. I’m really happy with the result and I think it looks great!”

Among the upcoming titles in Q4 is also Polar Paws, the studio’s very first Christmas game with a modern holiday theme, free spins and a wilds galore, including regular wilds, multiplier wilds and a bears turn wild feature. The official release is scheduled for December 10th, 2019.
