Back Single Powerball Winner Announced

Individuals across the United States had been daydreaming for days about the recent Powerball Jackpot, which reached a whopping sum of $758.7M. What would someone even begin to do with that life-changing amount of cash? Buy a mansion? Pay off debts? The lucky winner from Massachusetts is being given the rough task of deciding what to do with all that cash, after discovering she had the winning ticket this past Thursday. Mavis L. Wanczyk of Chicopee is the state’s latest multi-millionaire, and has also been given the title of the largest single-ticket Powerball prize winner in history!

The 53-year-old explains that she and a coworker looked over their tickets after work, and that’s when she discovered she had the winning numbers. She recalls thinking, “It’s never going to be me. It’s just a pipe dream that I’ve always had.”

No stranger to games of chance, Mavis has stuck to mostly scratch-offs in the past, but decided to try her luck on the Powerball. There was no special thought process to her selection of numbers, and in fact, she had them randomly generated.

As for the big question; what is she going to do with her winnings? Wancyzk, mother of two, and 32-year employee at the Mercy Medical Center, commented, “First thing I want to do is sit back and relax,” and we don’t blame her. One of the first things she did, however, is something we’ve all fantasized about doing—she told her employer she would not be returning to work.

She chose to take the lump sum of $480 million ($336 million after taxes). We don’t blame her!

Congratulations Mavis!
