Popular payment transaction service that is widely used by online casinos and the iGaming industry, Skrill, has shared an important update regarding some alterations of their terms and conditions - awareness of which will be quite handy to their users.
The changes, which will come into effect on March 13th 2019, are relating to users' Skrill accounts and the terms that govern the service's relationship with said users. Two major aspects affected are Skrill Service Fees and Termination or suspension of Skrill account.
Commission and Suspension
The former will move forward with the following, referenced in the Skrill Account Terms of Use and as stated there:
"Your Skrill Account is free for personal use as long as you login or make a transaction at least every 12 months. If you don't do this, a monthly service fee of EUR 5.00 (or equivalent) will be deducted monthly from the funds in your Account."
The latter, Skrill account suspension terms adjustment, says that Skrill may now "at any time suspend or terminate your Skrill Account without notice if we have reason to believe that another Skrill or NETELLER account held by you has been used for any fraudulent activity, money laundering, terrorism financing or other criminal activity."
Looking For Constant Improvement
The new year starts off the same way the old one ended for this money transfer method...
...In December, the updated international money transfer service was launched with zero transfer fee and no foreign exchange mark-up. The service, available to existing and new clients alike, makes it possible for them to transfer money to bank accounts and mobile wallets at the mid-market foreign exchange rate and no transfer fee whatsoever.
Skrill's CEO, Lorenzo Pellegrino, was quoted as saying: "This is a really exciting milestone for our money transfer service. As well as our fantastic new user experience, we are delighted to offer ways for our customers to send money completely free of charge.”
As a banking method with both eyes on current digital trends, Skrill is open to embracing crypto assets - hence, adding to the repertoire of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and others, the service has announced last month the addition of Ripple - by popular demand.
This extension was announced via social media, with the message: “We’re very excited to announce XRP has been added to the list of cryptocurrencies you can buy and sell with Skrill. Thank you to everyone who has asked about Ripple. It’s Here!”

Well, as far as I remember, the dormant fee was $1 only, and they now increased it to $5, huh. You know, many casinos also charges the dormant fees, but the good ones actually returns the fee upon player's loggin in a long time. I wonder what Skrill's policy is about the returns, which probably would not be returned...

I am glad canadians can't use skrill for online purchases and such since i received funds on my skrill wallet and sent it to my bank. Not only did i have to pay stupid high fees to send the money back to my bank, but on top of it all they don't even process the transfer themselves and let banks do it which means they take their fees in the process so had to pay skrill fees AND banks charged 37-40$ fees for the transfer on top which is insane imo. In comparison paypal charge 0$ to cashout and process the transfer themselves so no bank fees. So if i cashout 500$ from skrill and paypal, i will receive net in my bank from skrill about 445$ or so while paypal will have 500$ deposited in my bank no more, no less. Don't use skrill guys.

I think that has more to do with Australian legislation and (il)legality of online gambling there.

I thought so but if aussies can legitimately use it why isn’t it more commonly accepted by casinos as a withdrawal or deposit method? Because waiting 3-7 days for a bank transfer to withdrawal is a bit of a mood killer. Especially when it took seconds to deposit the money!

Can someone please confirm if it’s legal to use skrill for Australians? What the article advises is good to know. The no fee aspect particularly enticing just wish casinos allowed it as a withdrawal method for Australian players! But the second thing is not unreasonable.
