Back Spain Triumphs Over Argentina in The Final of FIBA World Cup!

Spain VS Argentina 95-75!

The final of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 is over and Spain are the next champions of the world. Despite a better start for Spain, triumphing over Argentina was not an easy task due to repeated runs and aggressive defense, but it seems that Sergio Scariolo (coach) had an answer to everything the Argentines threw at him.

Reporting straight from the Beijing Wukesong Arena is our correspondent, who once again, in collaboration with Instagram page  “kosarkanadlanu” provided us with photos and first-hand insights about the game.

Diagnose? A Deficit in Points.

In spite of Argentina’s amazing play on both ends, Spain’s tight defense and field goal percentage from the beginning of the match psychologically crippled Argentina whose countless attempts to turn the tide and ensure a slight advantage failed one after another.

The team literally had to bleed for points and even the former NBA player Luis Scola “was held scoreless” for the entire duration of the first half, making a negative impact on Argentina’s endeavors to take the second World Cup trophy.
Scariolo didn’t let his team go astray and kept the pressure high right until the end of the match. The aggressiveness only intensified as the game progressed, leaving Argentina’s national basketball team totally hopeless in the third quarter with only 33 points against 55 for the Spaniards.

The player of the game was certainly Ricky Rubio, who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in total, followed by a double figure from team mates Rudy Fernandez, Marc Gasol and Sergio Llull. As for Argentina, the players with highest number of points were Nicolas Laprovittola and Gabriel Deck, who scored 17 and 24.

That being said, Argentina's half-time deficit slowly but surely exploded in the third quarter, allowing Spain to control the game and release a 14-0 streak that only further expanded their advantage. It is exactly the 55-33 half-time difference that proved impossible to beat, leaving Argentina far from the golden medal.

In the end, stats don’t lie and Spain’s dominance over Argentina was demonstrated in rebounds (47-27), baskets from the painted area (44-30) and finally, shots from the floor - 48 percent compared to poor 36 percent for the other team.

Bottom line is that Spain showed superior performance in the Final and the entire World Cup. This victory was important to the team for supernatural reasons, and that includes a scenario of getting eliminated in the Quarter-Finals in their own backyard.
