What follows is not your daily cock and bull story (pardon our French, but that there is a legit British expression, look it up) but a true tale of honest, hardworking people, a desire for fortune and – a complete and utter nut-fest once big money sets in.
So, here's the deal – when you're a mild-mannered old lady whose favorite nephew serves as a lucky charm throughout your latter stages of life, you don't just cut him out of your life via legal proceedings once you're about to be showered with dollar bills. It's just morally offensive and inexcusable and yet – that's just what Barbara Reddick, Nova Scotia, Canada resident, did.
It was a bogus idyllic scene during the presentation of the massive $1.2 million promotional check to Barbara and her cousin, 19-year old Tyrone MacInnis – the two were posing for the cameras smiling, though the smile on Tyrone's face was more sincere, as Barbara was surprised to see him there when she arrived. Turns out, she has put his name on the winning lottery ticket that she hit the jackpot with. To clarify, Barbara bought the ticket and put both of their names on it, as she always thought her cousin Tyrone brought her luck.
And that he did - $1.2 million in luck! But, when the two met to collect the prize, she confronted him in the car park and asked him to confess that she has already told him that she never promised to split her winnings with him. Tyrone refused point blank and now, Barbara is threatening to sue him over his alleged false claims that she said the winnings will be split in two. “Tyrone is getting nothing from me,” she underlined her intentions.
Mrs. Reddick (57), who is a retired military maintenance technician, tells her part of the story: “He’s always lucky with his draws, right? I said ‘Well, put your name on the ticket and you’ll be my good luck charm.’ I didn’t say split. I never mentioned money at all,” and adds that, when they phoned her to let her know that the two of them won, she exclaimed: “No, I won! It was my ticket.”
She continues: “I would have given him $150,000. Listen, Tyrone was the son that I never had. Me and Tyrone — ask anybody — we’re very, very close.” When Tyrone voiced his opinion that he should get half the amount of win, she refused: “Tyrone is getting nothing from me. It’s just for the principle. We were so close. He broke my heart. He broke it. People go crazy when it comes to money. I’ll never speak to him. In this lifetime or the next.”
You gotta see it to believe it:
A bit of a delicate situation here. Who do you agree with, provided that you do agree with anyone involved? Was Barbara actually the one that “went crazy”? Was Tyrone right to claim half of the winnings based on his name being on the winning ticket? Have your say below…

Well I tell you, leave it to a sum of money to make a family go crazy. I'm glad that I am not worth alot, I won't have to worry about my family coming after me. The world we live in has gotten so greedy it is unreal. I guess the fact you can't take it with you when you go should really mean something.

there you can clearly see once again. money doesnt make people and people who get some big quite big amount of money get greedy easily. i dont actually understand why she didnt want to split the money in the first place it was easily enough for her to buy everything she ever dreamed off until the rest of her life. dannnggg...

First of all this story can leave you breathless if you aren't careful enough ! And in all faireness,it's Mrs Riddick who went crazy over the money, and not Tyrone. This is because she put both their names on the ticket, only to change her mind after the win to the extent of threatening to sue him!

LOL, she would have given him NOTHING! If that guy, who asked a call girl in Vegas to hit the spin button on a slot machine he was sitting at to bring him luck, lost the case and winnings went to the woman, than Barbara has no case here either. She looks pissed in this photo :D

She did put his name on the ticket! The lottery in my state is always on the television and at the end of their advertising, they clearly state; "Sign Your Tickets Immediately After Purchase!" Once you sign your ticket, nobody else but you can claim that prize. I don't see how she is going to be able to keep it all....

Obviously, for some people the money is the most important thing in the world. Regardless of whether they will shared it, those two had already lost each other.
