What we learn about gambling...

There is one thing i learned about gambling through my experiences..

When i first started, yes i won alot..it was fun and nice having that money, and of course along with it.... i started gambling alot more.. and more, the more so it seemed to be i was gambling a heck of alot and losing a heck of alot..i noticed.. when i would lose, i was sticking more and more money in to win back the money i lost, maybe just 20.00 more will do it, and then another.. "i'm sure to win back that 500.00 i lost with this 100.00" only to end up adding another 100.00 to the money i lost, it wasn't fun anymore. This is over years and years...

I realized something.. when i stopped sitting there putting in money to win back the money i lost, i stopped losing..

I started gambling for the fun, whether i win or lose, naming it a good day or a bad day, what i spent was to have the fun, walk away and not be bitter. This is when i started winning. I win everytime!!

So what have you learned about gambling.. on a serious side..

Never, NEVER take my debit card along. How many times has it been "Well, I still have $400 in the bank" ..."Well, I still have $300...$200...Oh crap I'd better leave now, but that machine has GOTTA PAY!!!"  Then it ends, me broke and with a half tank of gas and there's one thought going through my mind.

Yes Imagine. That is good advice. 

NEVER chase your losses....You'll come out a loser most of the time.

Gamble only what you can afford to lose is also something I play by the rules with.

Yeah, that is universal advice.  Never chase looses.  The best long term gamblers are who gamble a set amount (once a week, month, etc.).

I am not sure if I am one of the best gambler or not but I do set my limit when it comes to gambling mostly because I can not afford it...:) I used to play a lot, charged from my credit cards, bank cards...never won anything and finally learned the lesson that I can not afford to lose any more than what I have so I only use my net spend card which I reload $150 per two week...set my limit to $300 per month win or lose that's all there is...so far no luck but I don't cry for losing.:)

Oh, the impulsivity gets me sometimes.  I was ahead $270 in BJ tournaments, and blew it all in 5 min of playing BJ with the computer.

I felt like a dumb azz for loosing that much, that QUICK!

I won $300 in BJ tournament, and blew it all with Trex at inetbet 3 months ago.

don't feel bad.  i spent hours winning almost 1400. over the weekend, then reversed my withdrawal and spent it all in about a half an hour.  :-\ :-\ :-\

One of the tings I've learned is not to get stuck on one game if you're losing. Don't get into the mentality of "the machine will hit soon, it has to I've lost so much..." I say switch games. Go to poker for awhile, or bingo, or change casinos, or at least change the slot your on.

From gambling, I've learned that I have an addictive personality!

Well.....I would say most of us clearly have impuslive personalities.  Not so sure about addictive...hard to tell that from a message board.  But, when I am UP a good sum and keep hitting the BUTTON....well, that is a sign of impusliveness. 

So, yeah, I am right there with you guys.  I have built up nice sums and like an impuslive fool blown it in a fraction of the time it took to win it.  Then, I spend the next couple of days semi depressed..........only to return for more!

Online is very attractive to impulsive personalities......AND THE CASINOS KNOW THIS AND THEIR SOFTWARE DESIGNERS!!!!  At a land based casino, I can get up from the table and go have a drink or an erotic massage, etc....While we are playing online we are just sitting in our favorite chair, wearing our most comfortable sweatsuit clothes, clicking the SPIN button.  Thus, far, far more easy to fall prey to our own impulsivity.

So many times I've just sat there chucking it into the same slot and nothing.  You put more on and nothing.

I "try" and walk away.  Leave it for 2 days and go back.  Generally, its good and you can get most of your money back.

Well.. theres another thing i go by with some of the casinos...if i don't do well with a free chip, i'm talking not even coming close to playthrough, i will not deposit..thats a rule i stick by no matter what. Get a free chip and it lasts me 10 minutes... thats telling me something lol...
BUT i have done well with a free chip, deposited.. and it turned lousy lol..
