  • Have you seen/heard the news about the cold murder case, abduction and killing of 7-year-old from 1957 has been cracked?
Wow, It's like watching a TV drama...and big kudos to the police officers who continuously investigated this sad and horrible crime even after half century passed, didn't go forgotten.
The only sad thing about this news is that there were plenty of evidences but they were never acknowledged or questioned at that time...and the man lived over 50 years free without being caught.
Nonetheless I am glad that he finally got caught and hope he will suffer for the rest of his years.

You can read this story at-ABC NEWS or USA today

  • Congrats to the police officers on a job well done, even after more than 50 years.

P.S.: Did you know that in some countries murder cases are archived after 25 years so that even if the criminal comes and confesses in a press conference he would walk free? I'm not kidding, that's for real!

  • What an incredible story.  So glad they solved the crime after so many years and the b't'd is locked up...finally.

Congrats to the police officers on a job well done, even after more than 50 years.

Good heavens Johnny - that's just incredible and outrageous.  Would you like to tell us any one of the countries that this happens?

  • I know two for sure: Romania and Bulgaria.

Incredible.  Do you know the reasoning behind it?  Is there really that much crime in say Romania?

    Thanks for your reply.

I know that there are around 200 cold cases that were archived until now and another 100 or so reaching the 25-year mark shortly. There have been some initiatives to change that stupid law, I supported one of them directly, but it hasn't been successful until now. The politicians have other things to do, you know... But there is far less crime in Romania or Bulgaria than the USA, mostly because people can't buy guns as easy as popcorn over here.
  • I fully agree with you,Johnny...there shouldn't be any limits of how long and every crimes should never be closed no matter what crimes and how old.
One of the laws I can never agree on is if an adult rapes an adult, there's 5 years to bring charges against him/her...how ridiculous is that?
I don't think there should be any statute of limitations.

I'm glad the US has no time limit on murder.... some crimes should be open forever!

I can't comprehend how parents continue life never knowing what happened to their child.  Jacob Wetterling was abducted from here (Minnesota) so many years ago.  He was 13.

Natalie Holloway.... who knows where her body is. sad

Thanks for sharing the story.  It's nice to see the police stayed on this one.  I'm sure it took over some detectives life.

  • I know two for sure: Romania and Bulgaria.

I'm Romanian.  Glad my great grand parents decided to come to the US.  Hopefully I'll NEVER need a statue to stay open.
  • Three cheers for those police!  Another one that I think should never, ever be closed is child molestation and it should never be too late to file... but it is  sad
