All Countries Banned From Online Gambling

Hiya LCB'ers,

I did a little research to find out just how many countries are banned from online gambling and to be honest i was surprised by the results. Of course some other countries may have certain restrictions that are not on this list like France or Canada for example.

This list is basically countries completely banned from online gambling........

But it is crazy the number of countries that have full on bans. I had no idea there was this many!

interesting that Cyprus is on the list since they host so many online gambling sites.

It's quite a long list Lips and yes, some of them are trying to regulate.  Should Russia be on the list?  Never sure about that one.

thank you:-) It makes me wonder that Germany is on the list. I'm from Switzerland and we have usually most often the same laws here like in Germany. Fiedo is from Germany, i hope she dont get any problems to play online casinos!!!

Is Switzerland restricted from any particular software(s)? if none, I can't help feeling a bit envious...heh!

why cant the government go decide on important issues like how to steal more of the taxpayers money then to bother with online gambling.I feel they should be happy some people are at home on the PC instead of out with nothing to do.I know i would go crazy and then it would cost the government thousands to throw me in the  crazy house for life.

Players from my country arent banned from gambling online. There are heaps of sports betting sites, the TAB, lotto etc. Theres a law that is supposed to stop casinos and poker sites from accepting players from my country but since they are all overseas hardly any of them follow it. Theres no law against people playing though so if the casino allows you to you are fine.

Thanks, kaboom for your reply.I just read an interesting article where the law would allow the residents to charge back cc deposits at casinos. This would be risky business for the online casinos and would force them to deny players from your country from playing.

Have you heard any follow up on the ruling?

Actually, Cyprus is in some kind of a process of introducing a law to ban the pastime entirely, including the operations. Now, I'm not sure whether they've already passed it or is it a work in progress, but things currently don't look too bright for the future of online gambling in Cyprus.

I know that beginning of this year, they were planning on banning all forms of internet gambling except sports betting and lottery.
The question is how much of US authorities influenced it's decision if so.

I hope if the online casinos from cyprus will pay the clients winnings before they close down.. coz I do have some winnings in some casinos not yet withdraw. :x

Well, if you play at the Cyprus casinos regularly and haven't noticed any weird changed recently, that probably means that the ban-bill hasn't been introduced yet, so there's not much to worry about, at least at present.

Now that I think of it, if they do make a final decision to introduce the ban, it will surely be all over news...

Maybe a list of what countries are still allowed would have been a shorter list.
