Am I the only one?

  Hi Gang:
 
      Had a doctor appt today and I had to get a flu shot. Then I was informed she  wanted to run some tests so I had to get blood drawn for that. :'(

I promise I was brave, but I just detest getting shots. They hurt, and the needle looks huge to me as if it is going to go right thru the vein. What if the phlebtomists' first day? What if they are having a bad day? What if they take to much blood and I faint when I go to leave? 
My girl seemed nervous. She dropped the first needle to the ground, and couldnt get the rubber band up around my arm to stay put. None of this made me feel any better about the procedure.

I know I am just being silly, but please tell me I am not the only one out there who hates to get shots. The girl could see I was nervous, and being a grown adult shaking made me feel like an idiot.

Girl u are NOT the only one.  I am worse than a little kid when it comes to needles!! I HATE THEM!  As soon as I put my arm out, I have to look away AND close my eyes.  I don't want to see them acting like they can't see my vein or ANY of that.  :'(  :'(  :'(

Shelli...I am sorry you too are scared of needles, but glad to know I do not suffer from that fear all by myself. Misery loves company. HAHA
After they called my name to go back, I didn't think my legs were gonna hold me up to get there.

No kidding? That makes me envious of you and your courage. 
I am learning the fear of needles is a bigger issue than just a few people I know.
Kudo's to you for giving blood. That is so awesome. Such a important cause to be a part of. I wish I could share in it, but I just can't do it.

Pam, you are not the only! For sure! I think most people find this procedure unpleasant, nervous and so on... someone more, someone less...13oclock, you are just an exception! Each one tries to cope with it somehow...I do as Shelli said! I prefer not to see it at least! Generally I feel dizzy seeing blood... :'( :'( :'(

I hate needles too....but i also i hated going to the doctors...after highschool...i avoided going to the doctors for almost 20 years...amazingly i never had to either - not even a cold. however finally giving into peer pressure from my parents and friends to at least get a physical...i made an appointment see a doctor. during my check up i was recommended to get a flu shot..i remember this was a big mistake...not sure which to blame the doctor or the flu shot...but for several months after...i got sick least once every month for almost a year!

Heh! PMM I can relate but more so as I had blood drawn by a rookie.

Let's say "3 rimes lucky" was her motto for me.

I tell you, the poor girl was in tears when she had to try a 3rd time. I just told her that it does occur and I have had much worse then being stabbed three times by a needle.

She got it right on the third time and so all was well. I hoped the rest of day, she didn't dwell on that occurance.

Now I know later if asked that they use the right arm as it's got a better and easier to view vein.

You're definitely not alone Pam.

I can't bear them.  Like Shelli, I have to look away.

Your not alone when I have to get a shot or blood drawn I hate it because my skin is thicker than most people so it hurts a lot more than other people OUCHIE!  :'( lol

So, the concensus is that it indeed sucks to get blood drawn, or get a shot.

I knew I was not alone. My LCB family is with me....

i hate needles and i hate to go to the doctor
but sometimes it must be  so i went  to the doctor  hopfully he dont find anything bad for me
if i must visit a doc i cannot sleep the night before
i dont know why this happend  it is always the same
after the visit i sleep well

When i was little, they were giving shots in this place like an auditorium
for the school age children i think i was entering kindergarten.
I was brave to it came my turn...
They had to chase me all up and down the isles, up and over chairs, over desks, behind curtains, nurses were there with there arms open trying to catch me if i ran THAT way, blocking the doors so i couldn't run out
That was a scene..
I turn as white as a ghost the sight of a needle, even thinking about them
makes my stomache go lou lou..
I hate them

HAHAHAH, I got a visual of the whole place chasing you thru that big ol'e room with needle in hand. I too remember that kind of set up for immunizations when I was little.
