    I am an avid reader and would enjoy having someone with which to discuss books.  I am a quarter through Anna Karenina and would like to hear opinions on it or Tolstoy, in general.  Thnx

    JD Robb (Nora Roberts) fan here. Also enjoy Sandra Brown. Other authors that write mystery romance. I don't read as often as I use to due to hooked-on-bingo/casino  tongue

    I read Anna Karenina a long time ago, I think I was 14 or 15 years old back then, but this book still has a place in my heart. What I like about Tolstoy is the architecture of his novels, the way that he builds the story and the characters into an almost perfect puzzle.

    Having watched 2 different versions of the movie, I can say, with certainty, that you don't get a truly indepth understanding of the characters.  I loved the films and the book is helping to fill-in some blanks.

    I think that a movie based on a book can never provide the same depth as the written words because a book lets you picture things while a movie rarely does that, only a few good ones do.
