  • Hiya Members,

    My confession:

I realize that wearing a seat belt is the law...i realize wearing a seat belt can save my life. But the fact is i don't wear my seat belt.

I have used every excuse as to why....from the strap hurts my neck...to i feel to restricted with it on. If i see a cop car approaching...i scurry and throw it over my shoulder....God forbid should i buckle it.

When i bought my car...and after discussing seat belts...the salesman pulled me off to the side and whispered....would you like us to disengage the ding to buckle up? My eyes lit up big as saucers as i said....can you really do that for me!!!!

Is there anyone else who hates wearing the seat belt...for those that do where them...perhaps i need a good lecture on the importance.

    Thanks,
    Lips
  • Lips, I saw a head on collision when I was 35.

The passenger in one car survived. Neither driver of the cars lived, though they did have a (Ick here it comes) meeting of the minds...(Yuck)

I admit it can be a bother at times, but I've learned that many cars now have a side adjustment slide so you can adjust the seatbelt to a somewhat more comfortable position.

Unless you like laying on a slab in the morgue?

Lips...I have been in many, many accidents, and I should not even be alive.
Maybe...probably a seatbeat maybe could have helped me.

But on the other hand,  the last accident I was in, this lady ran a stop sign going about 70, and broadsided me...trapped me in the car, I couldn't have gotten out if I wanted to.  They car caught on fire, and they had to wait for the fire truck and a jaws of life to get me out.  In the mean time, I was so upset, I started having a seizure in there.  But if I could have gotten out, I know I would not have wanted to screw around with a seat belt.

I don't believe in them.  It is my right if i want to go flying out the freaken window when an accident happens, then thats the way I should be able to go..I don't want to be stuck in a burning car..I don't want to die burning.
And no freaken cop for any freaken amount of money will ever take that right away from me.
  • Lippppps, we want you to be around for a while so can you please BUCKLE UP!!!  wink

It's crazy, I would always tell my sons "seatbelt safety" as they were putting their seatbelts on.  I wore mine when they were in the car but I didn't wear in about 99% of the time if they weren't in the car. (BAD GIRL)  But one late night/early morning at about 3am I was following a friend home and for some strange reason I heard in my head "seatbelt safety mom" so I put my seatbelt on.  As I was going down the 5 line highway I could see a car rapidly approaching in my rear view mirror, they had to see me, I figured they would change lanes and just go around me since there were no other cars on the road.  I was WRONG he swerved to the right, but it was too late he lost control and t-boned me into the center divide at about 75 mph.  My bumper was smashed all the back to the wheel well.  But I walked away. If it hadn't have been for my seatbelt i would have been body parts all over the freeway.

Buckle up for us hun!!!! please      wink
