Card Counting

Hiya LCB'ers 

There a new movie on the horizon that opened in theatres called the Card Counter. 

If anyone has seen it share your thoughts.

So, this what I am thinking. Should card counting be illegal in the eyes of the casino and if caught be thrown out on your ear by two husky bouncers? 

Is quality playing at the highest level considered wrong? 

I would like to hear members thoughts on the art of playing Blackjack and having the smarts to count the cards!

Hi Lips, that movie looks very interesting. Didn't watch it. I'm a BJ player and my strategy always be to play by some rules. Rules that you give yourself when start playing. Doesn't matter what they are (some money limit, some BJ strategy, time to playing, etc.) In my opinion, If someone is that much intelligent that he/she can count cards in that many decks when playing, I think that person will not allow himself to be caught. Just don't be greedy. In that way, the casino doesn't have a chance to catch that person. I am also of the opinion that card counting should not be illegal in a casino. It's a skill If you ask me, not a way to cheat the casino. 

Card counting has always been something that i would love be taught or talented enough to keep track of three decls shuffled and varying number of players at the table and everything else. I think if u are thaat brilliant then free pass count the blackjack cards all day long and may you be rich. 

I haven't watched this film yet, looks interesting. I don't see why it is considered as cheating if a player who uses this card counting still tries to overcome the house edge.

Not sure what to think of this trailer, feels off. Tiffany Haddish's line delivery is pretty bad here.

Let's say I can reliably count on my own (I wish) no help of gadgets of any kind, why the hell would I not count the cards? On what grounds can this be made illegal? 

Sure, casino management can be butthurt and would probably make up some reason to "escort" me out of the premises, but I would just dust off and take my genius elsewhere 

i see it the same way. the card counting or "kettle watching" being condemned as illegal is really ridiculous. it's purely about observation skills and / or a bit of mathematics (even if the "bit" of mathematics is beyond my abilities, unfortunately). so no additional programs, no tricks, no group work etc. on the part of the casino it's a pretty poor act if they forbid it.

About 12 years ago , Casino management in a Hamburg casino asked to the office ' to have a word'. They said I can leave without charges, I only have to leave my contact lenses with them and tell them how they work.

I had no clue what they were on about at first but when it came to me I couldn't stop laughing. Then I explained it to them. My eye colour changes between grey green and grey blue at times , but I'm not aware of it. Someone from casino security noticed it happening and somehow got the idea I was wearing some high-tech future x-ray lenses enabling me to read cards. After we all finished laughing about they apologized with 500euro casino chips and free drinks for the rest of the evening
