  • The kids rush back to school and the Christmas cards hit the shop shelves.

I know it happens every year but for some reason, it really got to me this year.  Seeing those cards in the racks at this time of year is crazy.  It's almost 4 months til Christmas - it just goes to show how commercialized everything is.

Are the Christmas cards in the shops where you live?

  • I haven't seen any yet blue.I thought I was a earlybird when I bought some Halloween candy yesterday exclamation I just need to ignore all the goodies until then or I'll need to get more for the kiddies worn_out laugh_out_loud laugh_out_loud
  • Yes blue they are. As much as i love Christmas this is overkill. I won't even look in the Christmas section until at least around Thanksgiving week so i am not burned out.

But there is one teeny tiny exception. We have a radio station that will flip the switch to Christmas music 24/7 early in November. They even have a contest as to when it will start. I can't resist listening to it and get soooooo excited.

Christmas isn't even over and they begin to stock Valentines Day Items. But the clothing stores do the same thing. Come January all you see are swimsuits, shorts and flip flops and Chicago is buried in 10 feet of snow!

  • Rosebud - don't eat too much candy!  Buy the halloween stuff nearer the time and then you won't be tempted.

LOL @ "Come January all you see are swimsuits, shorts and flip flops and Chicago is buried in 10 feet of snow!"

    So true Lips.

I can't bring myself to look at the Christmas cards either.   I'm a bit of a "almost at the last minute" kind of Christmas shopper.

LMAO  Nah not yet Gabby - I couldn't bring myself to even look at them.  I don't know why, but it just made me see red (and no I don't mean santa laugh_out_loud).

  • I haven't started shopping.  I used to be one of those early shoppers who had all my mail out gifts boxed, labeled and ready to go by Oct. 1

Not gonna be that way this year.

I despise seeing holiday decor/cards out when we still have 2 or 3 holidays before the one advertised.

  • i don't even like looking at this thread! hehe... laugh_out_loud laugh_out_loud laugh_out_loud

LOL laugh_out_loud Know what you mean.
  • i dont like looking at this thread either, i think the reason the shops do this and get away with it is pretty simple really, people dont complain enough for shops to do something about it, they should start at end of november not in september its crazy, i saw the tins of choclates in my supermarket today and the cards too, it is crazy, shops need to take note, people dont want it down there throats, people need to start complaining more and we then might see a difference

    gl all smiley

and a very funny early seasons greetings lmao tongue

  • LuckyRJ - I think you are right, we should complain more.  Do you think it would have the desired outcome though?

What a sweet and thoughtful thing for your brother to do sunydays.  You're very lucky to have such a wonderful brother.

  • I'm trying to stay away from all this Christmas frenzy, the spirit of the day is not about credit cards, money or Coca Cola. I can say that all this marketing has pretty much ruined this holiday for me although I try to keep it as it was in my family.

I hear what you're saying Johnny.  It does spoil it because by the time Christmas eventually arrives, we've had it rammed down our necks for 4 months and just don't want to know.
