Clint Eastwood's rather unconventional speech at the Republican National Convention in has drawn a mixed reaction, to say the least, from the Hollywood community.
The most controversial part of the speech performed by 82-year-old actor and director was the part in which he conducted an imaginary conversation with Barack Obama. Here's the full speech: http://youtu.be/dIBGIXLDrAk
Reactions:
actress Mia Farrow: "What WAS that thing Clint Eastwood just did? How could they let it happen?"
Film critic Roger Ebert: "sad and pathetic".
Adam Levine of pop band Maroon 5: "nutterbutters".
former Saturday Night Live comedian Chris Kattan: "Clint Eastwood may be old but he's still awesome."
actor Zachary Quinto: "Is Clint Eastwood meant to instil confidence in Republicans?"
actor Simon Pegg: "Maybe Clint is a sleeper agent for the Democrats sent in under deep cover to make the Republicans look stupid. No wait, that's Romney."
journalist Tom Brokaw: "Clint Eastwood became huge star as a man of few words. As a surprise guest on the Tampa stage he had too many words."
I'm not a Mitt Romney fan, far from it, but I admit I am a Clint Eastwood fan, especially as a director. Maybe his speech was not one of the most inspired, but some of the critics seem to be going a bit too far in my view.
