Clint Eastwood's speech at the Republican National Convention

Clint Eastwood's rather unconventional speech at the Republican National Convention in has drawn a mixed reaction, to say the least, from the Hollywood community.

I'm not a Mitt Romney fan, far from it, but I admit I am a Clint Eastwood fan, especially as a director. Maybe his speech was not one of the most inspired, but some of the critics seem to be going a bit too far in my view.

I think he needs to stick to acting and directing.All his speech did was bore me too.Maybe I just didn't get it...I'm just a slow Midwest girl!!

I think Clint is just getting old and losing track a bit as he speaks, but he did make some valid points. I have to agree with you Johnny, some of the critics are a bit overboard. I had a bit of trouble seeing him as a Republican with some of the things he said, so I can see some people feeling he might be a "sleeper agent" for the Democrats. I think basically he does not like politicians in general. But he does love his country. Besides, some of his remarks on the side were very funny.

I was kind of nervous for him as he gave the speech hoping desperately he would do it effortlessly. It looked like to me he didn't use a teleprompter or notes to read his speech. For that i would have to say i was more impressed than disappointed. The man is 82 years old and a legend, give him a break.

People need to read his rebuttle to the criticism.  What he says is right on.
At first I thought it was odd but then after reading his explanation I totally got his intent.

Finally a Hollywood icon spoke his mind. And really it won't effect Clints career, he is an awesome Director and Actor and I doubt many liberal actors are going to mess with him..

I prefer when celebeties stay away from the politics but I understand that's a hard thing to do since everyone has a right and need to speak thier mind.

Also Mark these politicians gravitate to these big names in show biz because they have the bucks deluxe to back their campaigns. But i agree people may not use the best judgement and vote for someone simply because one of their fav stars support them.

I just hope Johnny Depp don't go and support a politician or i might get persuaded 

I agree Lips, it's just another way for politicians to attract the voters. Some would be persuaded and some not.

Well...he is 82, so I cannot imagine people expecting a sharp, word-smithed speech.

I gotta agree with the mind doc. Dude is 82 and was on target with the facts.

I am in the Republican and Clint Eastwood camp. All the critics were Democratics looking for any excuses. He made perfect sense to me.

I love his reply to the criticism. While unconventional, he asked the "chair" the questions that many would have asked.  Love the guy for speaking his mind versus those hollywood liberals that make millions, pay less in taxes than educated couples/families earning $250K-$500K and still paying off their student loans and getting less deductions and credits than they are and yet they cry for us to pay "our share".  My husband and I have paid our share and paid for 2 kids college tuition wthout any gov. assistance or credits, pay our families heath insurance without any government assistance or tax deductions. While others owe no federal income tax at all and now my taxes are increasing to pay for their health insurance premiums while I see mine rise due to the "free" health screenings and tests. And, all while there will still be uninsureds seeking emergency room treatment that they can't afford and those people won't be required to purchase health insurace or pay a penalty as their income is so low that they are exempt.

Those that fall for the explaination of the President and Democrats have no knowledge of what the PPAC legislation includes. I have worked in Health care administration for over 35 years and my husband has been in private medical practice for 30 years.  I know what I am talking about.
