I've never been married or divorce...but I'm with a man who was married and going through a divorce for 2 years and divorce is all the nightmare I imagined it to be.

Been divorced for two years now and it was probually the the worst experience I had ever been through but now looking back I'm very grateful for that idiot leaving me because my life then compared to now are very different , marriage is defenitly for certain people and I'm not one of them, I have Girlfriend now but will never In a billion years get married again, I've got not problem with being with someone for the rest of my life but the marriage story and the law and family issues around it are not for me
That's my 2 cents worth on this subject

I agree 100% with cica. Im also 39 and simply do not want to start over. Plus with my daughters disabilities its just easier for us to stick it out. I have almost asked for one several times but always chicken out. Oh well. What you want and what you get from life is usually not the same thing.

It is such a scam and injustice that if you want to divorce someone you have to give the courts total control of your life. They drag it out while the lawyer you are forced to hire, because of the insanely complex and complicated legal procedures, for unjustifiable 1000's of dollars, sucks you dry.Why cant grown adults who don't want want be be together anymore just take whats there's and go there separate ways. I am truly sickened by this whole experience.

I haven`t been married, but I was living together with a man for many years. When we moved together we made an agreement/deal through a lawyer, so there was no problems when we did split.
Now I have been living alone for some years and feel fine with that. I don`t need to stress to find a new man to live together with, like some of my friends do. They seem to not handle to live alone. I feel sorry for them. -

I've been married two times and both ended in divorce. First divorce it felt like death even though it was me who wanted it. It cost me a little over $24,000 in attorney fees and that was back in 1993. My second divorce was my decision as well, I simply fell out of love. But I can tell you last year when I lost both my parent's both my ex-husbands were there for me.

I have been divorced for less then a year. We were married for 3 years. Hell is the one word that described our union. He liked to drink and would get violent. He also did drugs. I don't drink or do drugs. He wouldnt work and he was 14 years my junior. I was lonely and made a bad descision. Glad it is over. I would rather be sick and struggling alone then to be mistreated and stressed out. I now see other couples going threw things (my brother) and i am so glad its no longer me. I am single and i am happy. Sure i get lonely sometimes then i remember the nightmare i was married to and get real happy quickly.

In general. I believe we all agree that divorce is a sad thing. It is very difficult ,and can be very traumatic a s well. But my opinion, feelings, etc. Will always first and foremost revolve around the children where they are present. If the environment becomes so toxic that these children are apparently affected negatively, by all means i beleive in going with a divorve. The kids that have to endure constant arguing, abuse, etc.are truly the ones who suffer and are at risk more than any one else.

Divorce sucks. No other way around that. Broken dreams, hurt and disappointment follow all divorces. But sometimes there can be "beauty from ashes" if you learn to forgive and move forward in your life. Children are usually the silent victims from a divorce, and they should be allowed to ask questions and share through this process.
