A gas station attendants that would not only pump your gas but clean your windshield and check your tires?



Remember when........

Putting aluminum foil on TV antennas and after midnite your screen was all snow?

Not only do I remember when gas stations did that, I did it at my Grandfather's gas station when I was young!  lol

I was around 11-12, and used to love helping him out by pumping gas and taking care of customers for him, and I did the windows and oil, too!  He got a kick out of it, but it distressed him to have his granddaughter doing those types of things. 

Gas was leaded then and smelled wonderful, and I think it was 29¢  gallon.

That sounds like a great memory! Imagine them checking the oil too. When my tire is low i wish there was a gas attendant around cuz i never know how much air to put in it and am afraid i will blow out my tire!

What is really  something too is the nice clean uniforms they wore too hats included.

Those are great lips, but it makes me feel old.

Yep, "Sunday Blue Laws".  What did they do?  Went to church, had special Sunday dinners, went for Sunday drives, visited family/friends.

Hell, I live in South Carolina now, and some of those still exist down here!  It's very strange.

I love this thread, but boy am I feeling old reading all this!! 

Yes before cable offered kid channels there were cartoons slated at certain times Alexa!

@lhasalover - Sundays like that bring families together and is down home goodness. Maybe they should bring back some of those laws!

Yes I certainly remember this.  When I was a kid we got to go to McDonald's once a year after going to our local fair.  Burger, Fries, and a shake was 45 cents.  At the time they even had a jingle on the radio singing...45 cents is all it costs you at McDonald's...45 cents for a 3 course meal at McDonald's...

Medtrans - I have looked high and low for that jingle but can't find it. But.......i did find the very first commercial for McDonalds narrated by Willard Scott the weather man in 1963. Was filmed at the first McDonalds in Des Plaines Illinois.

These prices are looking really incredible.At that time,it was not only cheaper,but I think that McDonalds food was a little bit healthier.

Lips,  If you are asking me...no I found it on the internet.  Couldn't find that jingle either, but I remember it vividly.  It was advertised so much back then and it was one of those jingles you always sang in your head.

I found an aluminum tree at a garage sale and had to have it!  Oh yes and the light........

I think this is a great thread but I have to admit that I only remember audio tapes, listening to radio stations for hours waiting for my favorite songs so that I could record them.

These were my favorites growing up... Lite-Brite....

OMG yes lol. We had beepers and no computers. I had 4 pagers of different colors . One to match my clothes .

I remember and still have in  a box  dozens of disks. Beautiful time and how patient you need to work...now is blitz...

Jellyshoes! I rocked them! I remember having them in blue color and I loved them,  they were so stylish and cute. And of course I remember old computers with floppy disks.. Luckily I had to use them only few times in my life and someone then helped me out.  Funny memories

Yes, it was a bike of this model, always riding without gloves, shoes or other equipment, and my bike stayed for months "sleeping" with me in my room.

I actually didn't have a bike and I only learned how to ride on at 17 year age my boyfriend taught me. I lived in a small appartment and there were no room and no money for a bike, and I was kind of scared too but always wanted one. But I remember riding a scooter, oh man, that was so fun!

This is my first bike "Орлёнок"(Orlyonok) made in USSR. I dont fall on the first day. I dreamed that I know how to ride a bike. At morning I sat on the bike and went. It was so easy.

My first bike looked simular to this one. I fell so many times...lol.. I thought I was a badass for getting a bike HaHaHa
